Vyom Vidyarthi: The Bullet-Happy IM
To the online chess world he is 2007checkmate, but his real name is Vyom Vidyarthi, and he holds the FIDE title of International Master. He is a bullet enthusiast, a blitz workhorse, and a player who has never met a clock he did not like.
Early Rise
Vyom's online journey started in June 2017 with a blitz rating near 1200. He improved at a frightening pace, playing hundreds of games per month and crossing 2300 by the end of 2018. In August 2017 alone he played more than 600 rated blitz and bullet games, which is either dedication or a warning sign. By 2020 he was pushing 2800, and in July 2026 he reached a peak of 2950 (2026-07-31).
Style and Openings
Vyom is not afraid of sharp or unusual lines. As Black he is a regular in the Alekhine Defense, and as White he frequently unleashes the Amazon Attack. His Alekhine results are excellent, with win rates above 62% in blitz and 78% in rapid. He also has a soft spot for gambits and poisoned pawns, which keeps the games entertaining.
His resilience is his superpower. He comes back to win 76% of games after falling behind, and he still wins 53% of games after losing a piece. He reaches the endgame in nearly three quarters of his games, and he rarely resigns early. For Vyom, the game only ends when the clock says so.
Rivalries
Every online grinder has rivals, and Vyom has a colorful set. His most played opponent is Omya Vidyarthi, with 81 games and an astonishing 43 draws. Against justuraverageclimber he has been ruthless, winning 39 of 47 games. And then there is Hikaru Nakamura, the one matchup where the mountain refuses to be climbed: 1 win and 17 losses. Some mountains are steep, and some mountains are Hikaru.
