Hi Alik — personalised feedback on your latest run of games
What you already do very well
- Opening initiative. You regularly hit the centre fast with …d5/…d4 (as Black) and with early h-pawn storms (as White). It forces opponents onto the back foot immediately.
- Tactical sharpness. Your miniatures against stoic_ss and susueur feature classic sacs (Bxf7+, Nd5-forks, exchange sacs on f7) – evidence that pattern drills pay off.
- Killer instinct. Most wins end before move 30. In bullet, finishing early is a real edge.
Key improvement levers
- Time management.
Three of the last five defeats (e.g. vs girlz_can_too) were simple flags. Adopt a “move every two seconds till move 15” rule, premove forced recaptures, and sprinkle in some 1 + 1 sessions so your brain practises quick release. - Unfamiliar structures.
Both the English Symmetrical (A34) and the Vienna/Bishop hybrid (C28) gave trouble. Spend one study session on the typical breaks (…b5/…e5 in the English, …d5 in the Vienna) and copy two GM model games for each. You will save clock time instantly. - End-game conversion.
Against Girlz_Can_Too you reached a holdable rook-ending but ran out of seconds. Drill the simplest rook-and-pawn endings so you can premove confidently when the flag hangs. - Defensive alertness.
Losses to Rodin_Kesh and Najdorf hinged on a missed zwischenzug or long-diagonal shot. Add one daily “find the opponent’s threat” exercise to hard-wire basic prophylaxis into your decision tree.
Two-week action plan
- Play 25 bullet games only with the English as White and the Modern as Black; record average move time (< 2 s target).
- Solve 100 end-game puzzle-rush positions (rook + pawns focus).
- Review five GM games in the Maroczy Bind to patch the structure that hurt you versus Najdorf.
- Analyse one of your own losses without an engine, then compare to see which defensive resource you missed.
