Meet the Pawn Parlor Warrior
bauernstuben_warrior is a FIDE Candidate Master whose username works on two levels. In German, "Bauer" means both farmer and pawn, and a "Bauernstube" is a cozy farmhouse parlor, so this is either a warrior of the farmers' parlor or a warrior of the pawn itself. Judging by the way the games drag on into long endgames, the pawn reading feels correct.
Since debuting on the online chess scene in October 2024, they have queued nearly 9,500 blitz games, which works out to more than a dozen a day, every day, holidays included. Somewhere in that mountain of games sits a peak blitz rating of 2661 (2026-09-27), earned one marathon at a time.
An Opening Repertoire in Three Acts
Act one, 2024: the romantic phase, opening with 1.e4 in over 450 games. Act two, 2025: the hedging phase, mixing in 1.d4. Act three, 2026: enlightenment, when 1.Nf3 was played nearly 1,600 times and the Réti Opening became a way of life. Few players publish a character arc through their first moves alone.
As White, the workhorse is the Amazon Attack and its Siberian Attack line, nearly 600 games deep, supported by the Agincourt Defense setup of the English Opening and the gloriously named Colle Rhamphorhynchus Variation, a line named after a pterosaur, which feels right for positions that can outlast geological eras. As Black, it is all iron classics: the Petrov's Defense in almost 500 games, the Philidor Defense, and the Four Knights Game, quietly the best scorer in the whole repertoire.
The Grind, Quantified
- Three out of four games reach an endgame, and the average battle runs past 70 moves. Bring snacks.
- Average first capture happens on move 6.5. They refuse to throw the first punch, then calmly absorb yours.
- 228 wins by checkmate against only 84 deaths by checkmate. Most other losses end in early, drama-free resignation. They do not do mercy, and they do not do suffering either.
- 13 career draws by stalemate, each one a small act of survival.
- The queen is the favorite checking piece with over 8,800 deliveries. The rook is a close second and probably has opinions about it.
- Longest winning streak: 13 games. Longest losing streak: 10 games. The universe remains balanced.
- A tilt factor of just 10, meaning essentially unflappable, but a certified night owl. Win rate peaks at 1 AM and collapses at 5 AM. If you must beat them, set an alarm.
Familiar Faces
No warrior grinds alone. cruz29 has met them 16 times and holds the upper hand with 8 wins to 6, making cruz29 the rare rival who reliably answers the door. Meanwhile, auonr has absorbed a 9-2-1 beating across 12 meetings, the friendliest scoreline among their most-played opponents. molarband (8-7-1) and bailnojail (8-6-1) hover around even, part of a rotating cast of blitz regulars who know exactly what is coming and get ground down anyway.
The Long Blitz Climb
From a humble 1753 debut to repeated raids past 2500, the chart below tells the story of someone who simply refused to stop queuing.
Undefeated in rapid (2-0, technically perfect), perfectly balanced in bullet (18 wins, 18 losses, 3 draws, spiritually exhausted), and a full-time blitz grinder, bauernstuben_warrior is living proof that the road to a FIDE Candidate Master title is paved not with flashy brilliancies but with thousands of cozy, stubborn, pawn-flavored evenings.
