Hi bearforce – personalised coaching report
What you already do well
- Opening creativity ≫ Your Wing Gambit scores impressively; the win vs captain_alpha0 shows deep pattern knowledge and the calm 25.Ra7+-33.Rg7+-34.Qg6# finishing sequence.
- Tactical sharpness ≫ You spot forcing ideas quickly, even in 60-second games. The Modern-Defense win against omeramirakdag is a good example of clean calculation under heavy time pressure.
- End-game conversion ≫ When the position is simplified you maintain technique and speed – e.g. the rook-and-pawn ending you converted to mate in the same game.
Key issues holding you back
- Early pawn lunges that weaken your king.
In several losses (vs Michal Mazurkiewicz, damwon) g- and h-pawns advanced before castling, leaving dark-square holes that were exploited.
Bullet rule of thumb: if you push a flank pawn before your king is safe, spend one extra second asking “What is my answer to …Qh4/…Ng4?” - Modern/Pirc set-up as Black needs repair.
Games against the 2400-2500 range show recurring trouble after the sequence …g6, …c6, …d5. White often seizes space with c4 or Qb3-Rc1xd5. Two suggestions:- Adopt an early …e5 structure (Modern-Line) to claim central squares.
- Or play the sharper 0-0-0 + …f5 setups only in 3 + 2 where you have time to calculate.
- Piece coordination in cluttered middlegames.
The Caro-Kann loss vs Praveen Thipsay featured multiple pieces guarding the same square while d- and g-files were unattended, allowing 25…Nf4! and Rd2.
Quick check list: 1⃣ Which of my pieces is doing nothing? 2⃣ Can it contest an open file or cover an entry square? - Time-to-move balance.
You seldom flag, yet in the last four defeats you reached single-digit seconds by move 20 while opponents still had 25-30 s. Borrow 3-4 s earlier (moves 10-15) to confirm tactics; that investment is cheaper than emergency intuition later.
Two illustrative PGNs
Study the contrast between a well-conducted attack and an over-ambitious pawn storm:
14-day improvement plan
| Day | Work set | Objective |
|---|---|---|
| Mon / Wed / Fri | 30 min Puzzle Rush Survival (themes: back-rank mates, deflection, overloading). | Increase king-safety pattern speed. |
| Tue / Thu | Pick one bullet loss, analyse 5 min without engine → 5 min with engine, write one-sentence takeaway. | Build rapid self-diagnosis habit. |
| Weekend | Play 10 games in 3 + 2 using the Modern but no pawn moves on the kingside until you castle. | Internalise safer structure, develop tempo awareness. |
