Profile of clumsy2022, Woman FIDE Master

Meet clumsy2022, the chess player who may not always be graceful on the board but certainly makes up for it with tenacity and strategic prowess! Awarded the proud title of Woman FIDE Master, clumsy2022 has steadily climbed the ranks in the blitz chess arena, demonstrating a remarkable capacity for comebacks and resilience.

Starting from a modest blitz rating around 1207 in 2022, clumsy2022 has smashed through the 2000 barrier by early 2025, boasting a peak blitz rating of 2108! Their blitz games show an adventurous spirit, with an average win rate just above 52% in over 600 games, many played against a curious and diverse cast of opponents.

Despite the username implying otherwise, clumsy2022's gameplay isn't all fumbling hands and missed moves. Their psychological endurance is commendable—with a comeback rate over 80% and a perfect 100% win rate after losing a piece, it's clear they thrive under pressure. Sure, they might be prone to a little tilt now and then (an 8% tilt factor, but who can blame them?), but they keep returning to the fight with impressive grit.

On the style front, clumsy2022 loves the long haul. Their games typically stretch into the deep endgame, averaging almost 69 moves per win. Maybe clumsy2022’s signature is wearing opponents down with solid endgame technique rather than quick-fire tactics. And with a surprisingly low early resignation rate (~2.2%), they’re clearly not the type to give up easily—even if the knight looks like it just took a tumble.

When do they shine the brightest? Midday and early afternoon seem to be prime hours, with win rates hovering near 60%, while evenings and late nights require some caffeine-powered magic to avoid slipping. And beware if you meet them on Thursday, their highest-performing day, where nearly 60% of games end in victory.

Beyond the numbers, clumsy2022 is a player who combines humor, heart, and a relentless fighting spirit—proof that even if you start out a little clumsy, you can still checkmate your way to greatness.

Hi clumsy2022!

Great job climbing past 2108 (2025-04-21) recently and scoring convincing wins such as the one against ordinateur01. Below is a summary of what you are already doing well, followed by three concrete improvement areas and a weekly training plan.

What’s working well

  • Tactical alertness. In several games you spotted mating nets or material‐winning shots quickly.

(vs. Ordinateur01) shows crisp calculation in time pressure.
  • Comfort in Ruy Lopez structures. With White you handle both Classical and Jaenisch lines smoothly, often emerging with the bishop pair and long-term pressure.
  • Practical fighting spirit. Even when down material (e.g. against beri75) you keep pieces active and create chances, a valuable practical skill.

Areas to focus on next

  1. Time management & Zeitnot.
Four of your last six losses (e.g. vs. TakesTakeSandMate, DrLele) were on time in roughly equal positions.
    • Aim to reach move 25 with ≥50 % of your clock; build an early “time buffer” by making straightforward opening moves in ≤10 s.
    • Use the 2-second increment: pre-move obvious recaptures and checks only when the tactic is forced.
  2. Handling the Alapin & other Anti-Sicilians as Black.
In the loss to mohammad moghadas jafari (B22) your setup …Nf6–…d6 allowed e5/d5 forks and an exposed king.
    • Study the main line 1.e4 c5 2.c3 d5! 3.exd5 Qxd5 returning the pawn with rapid development.
    • Alternative: the solid …e6 & …d5 French-style structure keeps the center closed and is easier to play.
  3. French Tarrasch & Caro-Kann pawn-grabs as White.
Early g-pawn pushes (g4, h4) created weaknesses that opponents exploited (see loss vs. winer20000 and superdupertruper).
    • Before launching a wing pawn, ask: “What happens after …c5 or …f6?” If the center can open, postpone the pawn storm.
    • Replay model games by Alekhine & Short in the French Tarrasch to see how they combine central pressure with later kingside play.

7-day micro training plan

DayTask (≈45 min)
Mon15 rated games of Puzzle Rush Survival (focus on slow accuracy)
TueWatch 2 GM model games in the Alapin (annotate ideas in notebook)
WedPlay 3 rapid games (15 + 10). Goal: reach move 25 with ≥7 min.
ThuDrill 20 endgame studies (rook + pawns vs. pawns) to cut down time usage
FriReview your own French Tarrasch PGNs; mark positions where g-pawn moved
SatSparring set — play the Alapin as both sides vs. engine set to 1800, annotate
