Coach Chesswick
Hi Cosme7777!
Great job keeping an active playing schedule – nothing beats practice. I’ve reviewed your last few rapid games and put together some feedback to help you climb toward your next rating milestone 405 (2025-06-18).
What you’re already doing well ✅
- Tactical alertness: In several wins you punished loose enemy pieces quickly (e.g. the 5.Nxc7+ fork in your Accelerated London victory vs chasemgibson).
- Piece activity: You often seize open files with your rooks and aren’t afraid to bring the queen into action once lanes are clear.
- Opening variety: Sampling different setups (London, Grob, Englund Gambit accepted) helps broaden your chess vocabulary.
Main growth areas 🎯
- Early development & king safety: Several losses began with minor pieces trapped on the rim (Nb5/Nb1) or late castling. Try the simple checklist “Develop two knights & two bishops, then castle” before launching pawn storms.
- Pawn impulse control: Flank pawn pushes like 1.g4 or 6.g4 in the loss to argaabbbb weakened squares around your king. Play them after you’re castled and fully developed.
- Blunder awareness: Most decisive swings were single-move piece drops or missed mates. Build the habit of a 2-second “blunder check” on every move: “What changed? Is anything en-prise? Any checks, captures, threats for me or my opponent?”
- Endgame technique: In the resignation vs argaabbbb you were lost, but earlier endgames (vs GetMoney_Bro) showed good chances if you had centralized the king sooner. Study king-and-pawn endgames; they convert tactical awareness into wins.
Action plan for the next two weeks 📈
- Daily tactics: 10 puzzles/day focusing on forks, pins & skewers – especially Knight forks fork.
- Opening focus:
- As White: Keep the London (1.d4 2.Bf4) but delay Nb5 until you’ve castled.
- As Black: vs 1.e4 play 1…e5 or 1…c6 (Caro-Kann) – solid, teaches you piece development. vs 1.d4 stick with 1…d5 and simple queen-bishop development.
- Game review routine: After each game run Chess.com analysis, but spend 5 minutes on your own first: mark the move where the eval bar spikes and ask, “What tactical motif decided it?”
- Endgame mini-course: Work through the first 20 positions of “100 Endgames You Must Know” (free diagrams online). It will boost confidence when queens come off.
Game spotlight 🔍
Your cleanest win this week was with Black vs kuldeep8091. Notice how you:
- Ignored the scary looking 1.g4 and just occupied the center.
- Developed quickly and castled by move 5.
- Used a tactical knight fork on 11…Nd3+ to rip open the position.
