Coach Chesswick
Hi DavinciDavis! 🤝 Here is your personalised feedback
What already works
- Tactical eye – double under-promotion (40.g8=Q+, 45.e8=Q+) and the final 51.Qd4# against Nyingi show you can spot creative blows.
- Active pieces – you rarely leave rooks sleeping; 29.Rd7! in the same game is a good habit to keep.
- Fighting spirit – even in worse positions you set problems, forcing opponents to solve them over the board and on the clock.
Biggest improvement areas
-
Opening discipline > pawn-storms
Early pushes like f-, g- and h-pawns (e.g. 4.g4 & 7.h4 vs K-APABLANKA77) often leave your king exposed before your army is ready.
⭐ Mini-challenge: In your next 20 games develop both knights, both bishops and castle before touching the g- or h-pawns.
• Try the simple London System as White (d4 Nf3 Bf4 e3 c3).
• As Black adopt the Modern set-up you already like, but delay …f5/…h5 until castled. -
King safety
Losses vs Arjanit74 (king on f2) and others stem from wandering monarchs. Add the check “Can my king be checked next move?” to your thinking routine. -
Clock handling
The time-forfeit vs Anmol8299 shows you sometimes drift. Keep at least 2 min for move 25 and 1 min for move 35. Bullet-style blitz sessions do not replace structured thinking in 10 | 0. -
Blunder prevention
Tactics go both ways: 15…Bxb4+ (vs Arjanit74) and 26…Rxe8?? (vs nguyendoan123) overlooked simple counters. Daily puzzle rush survival to 15+ will hard-wire patterns like the pin, fork, and back-rank mate.
Study roadmap (≈ 20 min/day)
- 5 min – watch one short lesson on development & castling.
- 5 min – solve 3 intermediate tactics.
- 5 min – replay the model mini-game and note which moves follow opening principles:
- 5 min – play a 10|0 game focusing on today’s theme (e.g. castle before pawn storm).
Milestones to track
- 2 weeks: finish games with ≤ 3 computer “??” per game.
- 1 month: reach 800 using the same openings for both colours.
Pawn-storm checklist (use before pushing)
- Am I already castled?
- Are all minor pieces developed?
- Do I have at least equal material?
