Hello e-manseznamcz!

Great job maintaining an 1800-1900 blitz rating and playing a very active schedule. Below is a concise review of the patterns that stood out in your recent games and some practical ways to convert even more of them into wins.

What you already do well

  • Consistent opening repertoire – as White you stay within Colle / “London-style” structures and as Black you are comfortable in the Tarrasch and French setups. This reduces the amount of theory you must memorise and lets you reach middlegames you know.
  • Tactical alertness – many of your wins (e.g. against soyeric) come from spotting mating ideas in time pressure. You also handle queen-vs-rook conversions cleanly.
  • Endgame persistence – converting the rook endgame against SoyEric showed patience and correct pawn use even with only a few seconds left.

Three focus areas for the next rating jump

1 Opening discipline vs. early pawn thrusts

Several recent losses stemmed from optimistic pawn pushes before development was complete. In the position below you played 17… Nxg4 without finishing kingside development, and the attack never quite materialised:

Tip: Follow the “four-move rule” – until your minor pieces & king are safe, avoid flank pawn pushes that create new weaknesses.

2 King safety & piece activity

Your favourite Ne5/…Ne5 manoeuvre is powerful, but sometimes you leave the back rank shaky afterwards. In your loss to danonino04 you allowed Qxg7 + ideas because the rook on a8 and bishop on c8 never joined the game. Before launching an attack, quickly ask “How many defenders does my own king have?”

3 Clock management

You flagged in a completely drawable ending against nimzowitts. Notice in the chart below how most of your losses occur in the final seconds of a 3-minute game:

Routine to try: Decide on a fixed “time budget” – aim to reach move 15 with at least 1 min 10 s left. If you are below that, simplify instead of complicating.

Action plan for the coming week

  1. Play five 10|0 rapid games to practise complete development before pawn storms.
  2. Review any game where you castle after move 10; look for quicker ways to secure the king.
  3. Solve 20 tactics per day that involve back-rank mates and exchange sacs (zwischenzug motifs help too).

Your milestones

Blitz peak so far: 2049 (2020-01-12) – let’s target +50 elo by tightening those three areas.

When you are ready for variety

  • Add the Catalan move order (c4, g3) to complement your Colle setup – it gives you similar pawn structures but with a more dynamic bishop on g2.
  • As Black, test the Semi-Tarrasch (…c5, …Nf6, …e6, …cxd4) to reduce isolated-pawn endings that sometimes haunt your Tarrasch games.
