Hi Eilia Zomorrodian (Emeraldddd) – Post-Match Feedback

👍 What’s working well

  • Dynamic Openings. You handle asymmetrical structures (Modern, Alekhine, Pterodactyl) with confidence and often seize the initiative straight from the opening.
  • Tactical Radar. The 21…Rxf2!! shot in your latest win is a good example of spotting unbalanced resource-grabs at practical time controls. (See miniature below.)
  • Counter-punching Mind-set. Several wins arise after you accept structural defects (isolated pawns, exposed king) but repay them with piece activity.
  • Fighting Spirit. You rarely agree to quick draws and regularly convert equal endgames into wins (e.g. Q+N vs K&P endings on 09-May).

⛔ Immediate priorities (next 2-3 weeks)

  1. King Safety when playing …g6 systems.
    • In the loss to anak_kotabumi your king was stuck on e8 after 17…Ne5?! Plan earlier …e6 & …Kf7 or switch to a pure KID setup (…d6, …Nf6) to avoid hanging the e-file.
    • Re-watch games where you pushed …h5/…h4 too early – most attacks against you started with Qg4-h4-h6. Build a pre-move checklist: “Have I completed development? Is h-file closed?”
  2. Clock Management.
Five recent results were decided by flag or abandonment. Commit to one session a day of 15-minute games to rehearse deeper calculation without habitual premoves.
Tip: Play the first 10 moves on delay (no premoves) to force yourself into a calmer rhythm.
  3. Essential Rook Endgames.
The marathon vs TM_010_DSH shows good practical defence, but basic drawing / winning techniques (Lucena, Philidor) will save you 15-20 seconds of hesitation. Spend an evening with the interactive Rook vs Rook+Pawn drill.

🔍 Longer-term study plan

  • Opening refinement – keep the Modern, but add a “solid” backup (Nimzo/KID vs 1.d4) so you are not forced into early …exd4 or …h5. Prepare one mainline classical system to broaden your positional range.
  • Middlegame prophylaxis – do 3 annotated games each week focusing on opponent plans. Pause before every move and formulate a threat list (helps versus sudden zwischenzugs).
  • Tactics at slower tempo – puzzle rush is fine, but also solve 10 “slow” puzzles (10-15 min each) to reinforce calculation depth rather than pattern recall.
  • Endgame ladder – after rook endings, study minor-piece vs pawns, then queen endings (your Q vs minor conversion took 15 moves; aim for 5-7).

🗺️ Opening map – first moves so far

  • With White: 1.Nc3 & 1.e4 repertoire. Consider adding 1.d4 lines to encounter different pawn structures.
  • With Black vs 1.e4: Modern / Pterodactyl (…c5 & …Qa5). Keep an eye on the critical 4.dxc5 line – stockfish suggests 4…Bxc3+ 5.bxc3 Nf6.
  • With Black vs 1.d4: Early …g6 and …Bg7 is fine, but versus h-pawn storms adopt a quicker …c5 break or classical …d5 to blunt g2-bishop ideas.

🎯 Action items for next 10 rated sessions

  1. Play three 15|10 games and annotate them, highlighting missed defensive resources.
  2. Finish the “Rook vs Rook+Pawn” drill until you score 90%.
  3. In blitz, force yourself to keep >35 seconds after move 20. Abort games where you dip below in the first phase to retrain pacing.

Keep enjoying your chess journey, Eilia, and remember: every loss is simply new data for your improvement loop. See you at the board!
