Federico Pascualvaca: The Holy Cow of the Caro-Kann

Meet Federico Pascualvaca

Federico Pascualvaca, known on the leaderboard as FedePascuaScheige, has been a fixture of online chess since December 2020, and the output borders on the absurd: more than 19,000 rated games, which works out to roughly ten games for every single calendar day of his account's existence. His surname combines the Spanish words for Easter and cow, and on the 64 squares he has made a compelling case for the title of holy cow: patient, sturdy, extremely hard to push around, and fully capable of trampling anyone who gets careless near the fence.

From 560 to the 2300 Club

Federico arrived in early 2021 with a blitz rating in the 500s and a dream. Five relentless years later, his peak blitz rating sits at 2363 (2025-06-18), his peak bullet rating at 2343 (2025-06-12), and his rapid ceiling at 2303 (2026-01-27), all reached in a golden stretch running from June 2025 into January 2026.

The climb was not gentle. In March 2025 alone he played 1,079 blitz games, approximately 35 per day and approximately 34 more than any doctor would endorse. His longest winning streak hit 10 games while his longest losing streak hit 17, which is simply the tax on entering that many battles in one month. These days he patrols the mid-2200s with a blitz ledger balanced to within 19 wins over twelve thousand games, the accounting precision of a man who does not believe in easy schedules.

The Unbeaten Daily Chess Museum

His profile lists Daily chess as his preferred time control, and here is the beautiful part: the claim is technically defensible. In six career daily games, Federico has four wins, zero losses and two draws. The victories came with the Sicilian Defense Kharlov-Kramnik line and the Nimzo-Larsen Attack, while the draws arrived in classic Federico fashion: a Caro-Kann Defense and a Nimzo-Indian Duchamp Variation in which nothing could possibly happen. Six games, no defeats. Why play a seventh and risk the record? Some people collect stamps. Federico collects perfection.

Openings: Pterosaurs and Fortresses

As Black, Federico is a Caro-Kann defense contractor with more than 1,500 blitz games inside the fortress, supported by the Döry Defense and the Bogo-Indian. As White, his signature is the Colle System: Rhamphorhynchus Variation, a line so fierce that the database has partially redacted its own name. He has logged over 1,600 games with it across formats, which by now qualifies as a minor in paleontology. His Nimzo-Larsen setup wins 56 percent of his blitz games, and he wields the Amar Gambit as Black at a wicked 59 percent clip:

His opening preparation depth has grown from two moves of theory in 2020 to six moves today, a curve best described as asymptotically approaching studying.

Style: The Endgame Marathoner

Federico's games are long and his heart is longer. Nearly 80 percent of his contests reach the endgame, his wins average 80 moves, and his first capture typically lands around move seven, by which point most blitz players have already sacrificed everything including their phone battery. The full scouting file:

  • 84 percent comeback rate, and he still wins 45 percent of games after losing material.
  • Over 3,100 wins by timeout. The clock is his favorite attacking piece.
  • More than 17,000 rook checks delivered, plus 88 checks with his king, which is either bravery or a cry for help.
  • 166 stalemate draws, a genuine collection of disasters narrowly averted.
  • A tilt factor of 17 out of 100, among the calmest grinders you will ever watch flag an opponent into oblivion.
  • He resigns early 29 percent of the time, refusing to haunt clearly lost positions and ruin everyone's evening.

Familiar Foes

No opponent has crossed pawns with Federico more often than Robert Guevara: 23 games, with Federico leading 14 to 9. eigentourist has visited 18 times and left losing 10 to 8, while Enzo Mazzella holds the coveted nemesis role at 9 wins to Federico's 6, and Calixto R. Cardevilla Mendoza leads the head to head 7 to 4. If you would like to appear in a future edition of this biography, the queue forms behind them.

How to Beat Him

The data offers a merciful roadmap:

  • Do not play him at 14:00, when his win rate spikes to 60 percent. Catch him at 08:00 instead, when it drops to 43 percent and he is presumably running on coffee alone.
  • His results are nearly identical every day of the week, so there is no bad day, only bad hours.
  • He beats lower rated opponents 66 percent of the time and loses to higher rated ones 65 percent of the time. He is, rating-wise, the most honest man alive.
  • His rated games run roughly 10 percent worse than his casual games, so challenge him rated and hope he takes it seriously.
  • If you win a piece, do not celebrate: the comeback machinery is already warming up.

Final verdict: bring patience, bring an endgame, and under no circumstances poke the cow twice.
