Hi Federico 👋 – Progress Snapshot

Your current Blitz peak sits at 1525 (2025-05-01). The data below shows when you play your best and how often you are converting advantages:

What You Are Doing Well

  • Tactical awareness: Many wins arise from double–attacks and pins (see the final combination in your win over imbrutal47 – 31…Qe3+!).
  • Fighting spirit: You rarely give up and often survive sharp positions. Your counter-punch in the French Defence game (18.f6! followed by 21.Rh3) is a good example.
  • Piece activity: You consistently place bishops and knights on aggressive squares (Bg5, Nf5, Nd5, etc.), which keeps pressure on the opponent.

Main Improvement Themes

1. Time Management

  • Four of your last five losses were on the clock. You often drop below 10 seconds before move 20.
  • Practical tip: Follow the 30-20-10 rule. Aim to have >30 s by move 15, >20 s by move 25, >10 s in any simplified endgame.
  • Use “safe” premoves for forced recaptures and opening book moves to save precious seconds.

2. King Safety & Pawn Storms

Several defeats began with early g- and h-pawn thrusts while your king was still in the centre.

  • In the loss to reedlafleche you played 13.g4 and 14.h4 before castling and fell to …Qb6! tactics.
  • Rule of thumb: Castle first, open lines against the enemy king second.
  • When pushing wing pawns, check three things: (a) Is my king secure? (b) Am I ahead in development? (c) Can my opponent hit the newly-weakened squares?

3. Converting Winning Positions

  • Game vs brandonlee51719: you were up a full rook but allowed counterplay and finally resigned.
  • Conversion checklist: Simplify (trade Queens when ahead), centralise the king, and create a passed pawn. Do this before launching another attack.

4. Opening Streamlining

You currently switch between Italian, King’s Gambit, Caro-Kann, Scandinavian, etc. A tighter repertoire will save clock time and deepen understanding.

  • As White: Stick with the Italian / Two Knights for a month. Learn the main ideas: quick castling, c3–d4 break, and Bc4–b5 manoeuvres.
  • As Black vs 1.e4: Pick one of Caro-Kann or 1…e5. Prepare 10 core lines and keep them in a personal file.
  • As Black vs 1.d4: Your “d5 & c5” structure is promising. Study the Queen’s Gambit Declined classical setup for solidity.

Targeted Study Plan (2-3 hrs / week)

  1. Daily tactics – 10 puzzles on slow setting, writing the full line you calculate. Focus on forks and discovered attacks (your common themes).
  2. Endgame mini-course – 30 minutes twice a week:
    • King + pawn vs King basics (Opposition, Lucena, Philidor).
    • Rook endings: building bridges & checking distance.
  3. Opening file maintenance – After each session, add one critical position to your notebook with a short verbal plan (“Play …d5 and swap light-squared bishops”).
  4. Game reviews – Spend 10 minutes the same day you play:
    • Mark one good move and one bad move.
    • Ask “Why did I spend >20 s here?” to improve clock use.

Illustrative Moment

Your attacking instincts are excellent when the pieces coordinate. Replay this critical fragment:

Notice how every move created a new direct threat – keep using that principle once your king is safe.

Next Milestone

A realistic short-term goal is 1500 Blitz. With sharper clock discipline and a streamlined repertoire, you can reach it within 4-6 weeks. Believe in the process and keep enjoying the game – improvement will follow!
