fetenn: The Bullet Chess Ironman
If online chess had a frequent flyer program, fetenn would have enough miles to circle the globe twice. Since first appearing in December 2021, this bullet chess specialist has stacked up more than 44,000 bullet games, with another 7,000 blitz games for dessert. The debut was sensational: starting at 1223, fetenn ripped off an 181-101 first month and rocketed past 2000 before the calendar flipped. Then came not a victory lap, but a marathon. In 2025 alone the logs show over 18,000 bullet games, roughly 50 per day, every day, no holidays.
A Repertoire Built on Chaos
Most players memorize theory. fetenn appears to have chosen vibes. The signature dish is the Barnes Defense, one of the most famously dubious replies in chess, which has appeared in over 10,000 bullet games at a loyal 41% win rate. Behold the opening move of the house specialty:
The Amar Gambit (1.Nh3?!) shows up over 1,600 times, the mysterious Australian Defense over 6,000, and even a pterosaur-named Colle variation haunts the scoresheets. Yet buried in the chaos is genuine taste: the French Defense is the most profitable line on the card with a win rate north of 50%, and the Caro-Kann and Scandinavian pull solid duty too. As White, 1.e4 is essentially automatic, played thousands upon thousands of times.
Grind, Flag, Repeat
These are not twenty-move bullet coin flips. fetenn's games average around 70 moves, and endgames appear in roughly three of every four games, so this is a grinder who drags opponents into deep water. Once there, the comeback rate is an absurd 91%, and fetenn has won over 41% of games even after dropping a piece.
The clock may be the deadliest piece on the board: more than 9,000 wins have arrived by timeout, the most common winning method on record. There is honesty in the mix as well, with a 58% early resignation rate when a position is truly lost. Streaks swing both ways: a 14-game heater and a 19-game cold snap are both in the books.
Rivalries and Recurring Guests
With this much volume comes a colorful cast of regulars. jovanzivic10 is the most frequent dance partner at 301 meetings, an almost perfectly split series at 129-147-25. Jocko1959 has shared the board 268 times. Then there is kalmandufne, the certified nemesis, who has claimed 179 of 239 encounters, a matchup perhaps best reviewed in a calmer time control. On the bright side, T T is one of the few recurring victims, with fetenn holding a 93-80 edge.
The fetenn File
- Peak bullet rating of 2231 (2026-09-27), reached in September 2026, plus a blitz peak above 2300 back in December 2023.
- Best hour to play: 5 AM, with a 44.8% win rate. At 11 PM the rate collapses to 20%, so the witching hour belongs to the opponents.
- Tuesday is the most productive day of the week.
- Rapid record: a flawless 2-0. Slower chess is clearly reserved for special occasions.
- The queen is the most common checking piece by a mile, delivered tens of thousands of times.
- Against lower-rated opponents the win rate is a commanding 74%; against higher-rated ones it is another story entirely at 29%.
- Blowout losses are rare: only about 1.5% of defeats were one-sided, meaning nearly every loss was a fight to the finish.
