Fronk98: The Bullet Chess Machine

Some players study openings. Some players meditate on endgame theory. Fronk98 queues up for bullet chess, watches the clock, and lets chaos handle the rest. Since first appearing in September 2021, Fronk98 has played more than 26,000 bullet games, roughly 14 per day, every day, for five straight years. That is not a hobby. That is a lifestyle with a scoreboard.

The Clock Is a Co-Conspirator

Fronk98's signature win is not a brilliant sacrifice or a 30-move miniature. It is the soft sound of an opponent's flag falling. More than 6,100 career wins have come by timeout, nearly double the checkmate count, which tells you everything about the philosophy: survive the position, torture the clock, collect the point.

  • Early resignation rate of just 1.74 percent, because resignation is for quitters
  • A comeback rate above 90 percent, treating a lost position as a mild suggestion
  • Wins 44 percent of games even after dropping a whole piece
  • Endgame frequency of 77 percent, so most battles go long, deep and ugly

Opponents deliver 3.11 checks per game against Fronk98's 2.12, which is what happens when you spend most of the game slightly behind but never actually done. Fronk98 has also escaped 191 would-be losses with stalemate, a stat that deserves a framed plaque.

Openings: 1.e4, the French, and Crimes Against Theory

As White, life is simple: around nine of every ten games begin with the king's pawn, producing thousands of collisions with the Scandinavian Defense, Caro-Kann Defense and closed Sicilian Defense. As Black, the headliner is the French Defense, played over 2,000 times in bullet alone, with the delightfully obscure Svenonius Variation as a house pet.

The deep cuts are where the art lives. Fronk98 has rolled out the Amar Gambit more than 1,200 times and trusted the infamous Barnes Defense, the 1...f6 eyebrow-raiser that engines greet with laughter, in over 700 bullet games while still winning nearly half of them. At three minutes a side, dignity is a luxury good.

Exhibit A, the trusty French:

Rivalries Worth the Price of Admission

No dance partner has appeared more often than afreakingbear, and none has paid a higher toll: 152 meetings, 105 of them wins for Fronk98. At the opposite end of the emotional spectrum sits canwedoit, an immovable wall holding a jaw-dropping 55-2 head-to-head edge. Chess keeps everyone humble eventually, usually within 58 games.

Meanwhile, the 102-game series with ugetting sits at a perfectly balanced 45-49, proof that some rivalries are just two people politely disagreeing with pieces for half a decade.

The Legendary 57-Game Losing Streak

Every great grinder needs a scar, and Fronk98's is a 57-game losing streak, a collapse long enough to have its own theme music. The response was not a break from the game. It was more games. The rebuttal arrived as a 23-game winning streak, and the climb continued straight through the rubble. Tilt meter: a spicy 57, but the grind always answers back.

There is also a documented superpower window. At 8 in the morning, the win rate is a flawless 100 percent (sample size left as an exercise for the reader), while mid-morning dips toward 32 percent. Thursdays are the strongest day of the week. Wednesdays are for healing.

The Long Grind: Five Years of Progress

Perhaps the most impressive stat is the trajectory. The bullet rating has finished every single year higher than the last, marching from the low 2100s in 2021 to the mid 2500s by 2026, including a peak of 2776 (2026-09-10) reached in September 2026. Five consecutive years of improvement, one flagged opponent at a time.

Elsewhere, rapid sits at a coin-flip 607 wins against 609 losses, blitz hovers near even, and daily chess has been visited exactly 23 times in five years, including a 2026 cameo nobody saw coming. But when the clock drops to a minute, that is Fronk98 country.

The Bottom Line

Fronk98 is living proof that online chess does not require romantic rook sacrifices or 40-move epics. Sometimes it just takes a stubborn streak, an opening repertoire that includes the Barnes Defense, and an opponent who spent four seconds thinking about a pawn endgame they did not fully understand. Queue up, manage your clock, and maybe reschedule if it is Wednesday.
