Gleiwitz1: The Blitz Marathoner
Some players chase titles, others chase perfection. Gleiwitz1 seems to chase the clock. Flagged as a player who prefers Rapid, his real home is the Blitz board, where he has poured in more than 10,300 rated games since January 2020. For Gleiwitz1, the internet chess server is less a place to visit and more a place to live.
The Long Climb
From a modest start in early 2020, Gleiwitz1 has steadily climbed through the Blitz ranks, touching a peak of 2471 (2025-10-16) in October 2025. The road has been bumpy, with losing streaks that would end most careers, but he simply comes back the next day and fires up another game. His average winning streak is not flashy, yet his longest winning streak of 10 shows what happens when everything clicks.
In his few Rapid appearances, Gleiwitz1 is undefeated, with four wins and one draw. It may be his preferred time control for that reason alone.
A Repertoire Built on 1.e4
Gleiwitz1 does not hide his intentions. As White, he overwhelmingly opens with 1.e4 and is comfortable in nearly every major response. He regularly faces the Sicilian Defense, takes on the French Defense, and trades into the Caro-Kann Defense: Exchange Variation when Black tries to build a stonewall.
As Black, he is a loyal Caro-Kann player. The Caro-Kann Defense accounts for more than 1,200 of his Blitz games, while the Alekhine Defense gives him a sharp and slightly more successful side weapon. His best major opening result is the French Defense, where he scores just over half the points.
Familiar Rivals
When you play thousands of games, the same faces keep appearing. Gleiwitz1 has faced Great Chess OPTIMUS 51 times, and their rivalry is almost perfectly balanced, with Gleiwitz1 holding a narrow 24 to 26 edge reversed by one draw. The toughest matchup has been chimaradu, who has won 25 of their 31 meetings. Against ineb06, however, Gleiwitz1 has the better of the series, and he has split 14 wins apiece with gree nhorg.
Grinder, Not Sprinter
Gleiwitz1 is built for the long fight. His average win runs 77 moves, his average loss nearly 89, and endgames appear in 85 percent of his games. He rarely gives up early, and he keeps fighting even after losing material, winning 42.78 percent of games after a piece falls. His comeback rate in lost positions is an impressive 88.31 percent.
He is also a creature of habit. His best time to play is 22:00, where his win rate jumps to over 63 percent, and his rooks are his favorite checking pieces. If you meet him at the board late at night, expect a long, stubborn, and highly practical game.
Gleiwitz1 may never be the smoothest player on the server, but he is one of the most persistent. He plays fast, plays often, and keeps coming back for more.
