G (gogesha84)
Online chess grinder, London System loyalist, undefeated daily player, and one of the most patient flag-writers in the game.
One Letter, 28,155 Games
G, known at the board as gogesha84, has been playing online chess since May 2018 and has stacked up 28,155 rated games, which is less a hobby and more a personality trait. The name sounds like either a folk hero or a summoning spell, and the "84" is widely assumed to be a birth year, though the account declines to confirm anything. What the record does confirm is volume: over 17,700 blitz games, more than 9,500 bullet games, and a daily chess record so short it wraps around into perfection. More on that miracle below.
From 779 to the Summit
G debuted at 779 blitz and finished the very first month at 1399, suggesting the opening rating was merely a suggestion. The climb was steady: 1500s by summer 2018, 1700s through 2019, 1800s by 2020, followed by a two-year stay in the 1700s that included June 2021, a month in which G played 447 blitz games, roughly fifteen a day, every day. The 2023 breakout pushed past 2000, a late-2024 dip to 1748 was endured without comment, and in January 2026 the peak of 2102 (2026-01-23) finally fell. Bullet got its own redemption arc, from a 982 debut to a peak of 2092 (2026-03-15) in March 2026.
The Repertoire: London, Amazon, and the Australian Question
The beating heart of the repertoire is the London System, played 3,158 blitz times under the label "London [redacted] Poisoned Pawn Variation," an opening name apparently too dangerous to print in full. The plan is classic G: dark-squared bishop deployed early, pawn chain built, squeeze applied. A typical start:
Then there is the Amazon Attack, Siberian Attack division, played 1,407 blitz times, which means the early queen sortie is taken completely seriously, as though the queen personally owes G money. The Australian Defense appears 1,641 times, drop bears presumed involved. The quietly excellent choice is the East Indian Defense, which has won over 52% of 742 blitz games, making it statistically the most civilized weapon in the arsenal.
As Black, loyalty beats results: 780 games of the Sicilian Defense: Taimanov Variation at a 44.7% score, plus regular appearances by the Alapin, the Kan, and 529 games defending against Bird's Batavo Gambit, presumably out of courtesy.
Playing Style: The Endgame Grinder
83% of G's games wander into an endgame, the average win runs 75 moves, the average loss 79, and the first capture usually arrives around move 8. Nobody beats G quickly. Early resignations happen only 26% of the time, total steamrollings account for just 0.53% of losses, and the comeback rate sits at 79%, with wins still coming in nearly 45% of games after dropping a piece.
Opponents respond to all this in very human ways: 6,656 resignations and 4,749 flag falls in G's favor, against only 2,178 checkmate victories. In other words, G does not usually mate you. G makes you want to go home. The queen is the signature piece with 27,111 checks delivered, and G wins 53.6% of games when checking first. Opponents have checked back 70,472 times to G's 67,331, a near-perfect tit-for-tat economy. Tilt factor: a serene 16. Longest winning streak: 12. Longest losing streak: 16. Both were apparently survived without therapy.
Nemesis Corner
Every grinder has a wall, and G's is kamil1969, met 25 times with a 10-13-2 record that screams unfinished business. alfredo rubio has dueled G 20 times (10-8-2), which is exactly the number of games a rivalry with that username deserves. a2012isnear occupies the other side of the ledger at 11-3, a reliable source of daylight, while pomeroo (8-6), mattrad (8-5-1), nutmanut (8-7), chez7 (6-8), and berehidi7 (5-9) round out the regulars.
The Daily Undefeated
Here is the funniest number available: G's preferred time control is Daily, where the career record stands at 4 wins, 0 losses, 1 draw. Unbeaten. The catch is a sample size of five games spread across eight years, including a single 2018 draw at the default rating and a current rating of 649, a number that coexists peacefully with the word "undefeated." It is perfection through minimalism, and honestly, respect.
G in Numbers
- Best hour of the day: noon, with a 52.2% win rate. Do not schedule games over lunch.
- Worst hour: 7 AM, at 44.9%. Mornings are for coffee, not endgames.
- White wins 52.2% of games; Black only 44.2%. G, like most of us, prefers to move first.
- Versus lower-rated opponents: 62.7% wins. Versus higher-rated ones: 30.4%. Extremely normal behavior.
- Casual chess is a whopping 37 points of win rate better than rated. If G offers an unrated game, bring a helmet.
- Rapid peak: 2053 (2023-06-19), set during a flawless 3-0 sprint in June 2023, after which rapid was retired at the top like a true champion.
- 147 stalemates and counting, because not everyone deserves to lose.
