Gonzalo Cabello: The Scandinavian Wanderer
Meet Gonzalo Cabello, known on the board as gonzallv, a player who has done something truly rare in the chess world: he got dramatically better at the exact moment most people are winding down their improvement curve. In September 2025, Gonzalo went on a tear in Rapid chess, climbing from the 800s to a 1282 (2025-09-24) of 1282 in a single month, racking up 96 wins along the way. Historians will study this run. His opponents are still studying it, mostly while crying.
