Welcome to the Blitz Hotel
HotelRomeoTango may sound like a vacation spot, but this is a full-time blitz operation. With more than 7,800 rated blitz games since 2021, the hotel never closes. The opening bell rang quietly in the summer of 2021, but by mid-2023 the daily board was packed, and it has rarely been empty since. The rating timeline
tells the story of a player who arrived, checked in, and proceeded to live at the board. The Relentless Blitz Grind
HotelRomeoTango is clearly most at home in fast time controls, and the numbers agree: the blitz ledger holds over 4,000 wins against just over 3,000 losses. Long nights produce long streaks too, including an 11-game winning surge and a brave habit of fighting back: HotelRomeoTango recovers from lost positions more than 84% of the time, and somehow still wins almost half their games after giving up material.
- Blitz record: 4,069 wins, 3,027 losses, 763 draws
- Longest winning streak: 11
- Longest losing streak: 9
- Favorite playing hour: 05:00, when most of us are still checking dreams instead of diagonals
Opening the Doors
The HotelRomeoTango repertoire is adventurous and well traveled. As Black, no opening receives more visits than the Alekhine Defense, with 429 games and a near-even score that often turns into a whole-board struggle. The Sicilian Defense: O'Kelly Variation also appears regularly, while the French family, especially the French Defense: Advance Variation, keeps things stable on bad hair days.
With the white pieces, the English Opening is the house style, especially the Four Knights and the Nimzowitsch options. It is a repertoire built for people who do not mind long stays on the board: most games stretch past move 70, and endgames appear in around 76% of games.
Friendly Faces in the Lobby
Anyone can check into the blitz hotel, but a few opponents have become regulars. Against Michael Wierzbicki, who has faced HotelRomeoTango 16 times, the guestbook is heavily in HotelRomeo's favor. The most lopsided rivalry, however, heads to the front desk with bisirov: 13 encounters and no defeats, a true penthouse score.
The
chart shows that the HotelRomeoTango specialties are hard to leave with without paying the balance. There are also stubborn rivalries with capablanka71, jgcag, and many others who keep coming back for another time-control thrill.Style Notes
HotelRomeoTango is a blitz idealist who is not afraid to take losses, verify a position, and check back in later. The play is aggressive, queen-heavy checking work is present, and draws are rare in hotel rooms. Opponents just below its level often get charged at full price, while equals have to play very hard to earn a tie. If you find the HotelRomeoTango clock, be careful: it may be early, the coffee is strong, and the rating peak, 2397 (2026-08-26), is always on the front desk for display.
