i137: The Bullet Chess Marathoner

The Short Version

Meet i137, living proof that in online chess, volume is a strategy. Since first logging on in 2015, i137 has played more than 51,000 rated bullet chess games, winning over 26,000 of them while climbing from a humble 1430 debut to a peak of 2544 (2025-01-09). Some players spend years studying theory before trusting it. i137 simply plays, and plays, and then plays some more.

Blitz fans will find plenty to enjoy here too, with a peak of 2259 and a healthy winning record, plus a tidy 9-1 mark in rapid. But make no mistake: bullet is home, and home hosts roughly 4,000 games a month when the mood strikes.

An Open Mind, Questionable Openings

Where most players curate a repertoire, i137 has curated a menagerie. The signature weapon is the Australian Defense, the cheeky 1...h6 reply, which i137 has deployed over 7,300 times in bullet at a 52% win rate. Classical theory calls it dubious. The scoreboard calls it a coin flip that leans favorable.

  • Australian Defense: 7,343 bullet games, 52% win rate. Yes, really.
  • Barnes Defense: nearly 5,000 games of 1...f6 at 52.64%. Defiance in miniature.
  • Blackburne Shilling Gambit: 1,025 bullet games of pure trap-collector spite.
  • Amar Gambit: 2,783 bullet games. The word "sound" was not invited.
  • French Defense: Advance Variation: the rare respectable pick, and quietly the best performer at 56.2%.

As White there is at least some discipline. The move 1.e4 was played 10,575 times in 2025 alone, backed by sturdy scoring against the Caro-Kann, Scandinavian, and Sicilian. When i137 wants to feel sophisticated, the French Defense: Advance Variation comes out and wins 56% of everything it touches.

Style: Siege Warfare at 3 AM

Forget flashy 20-move knockouts. An average i137 win takes nearly 85 moves, and about 91% of all games reach the endgame. This is a player who wins long grinding sieges, and then, just to twist the knife, checks you with a rook. The rook is far and away the favorite checking piece, with more than 43,000 rook checks on record.

  • Comeback artist: drops a piece and still wins half of those games, with comebacks featuring in about 89% of all contests.
  • Hard to blow out: only 0.5% of losses are truly one sided.
  • Flag war veteran: 14,367 wins by timeout against 14,579 losses by timeout, the single most honest statistic on this page.
  • Streaky soul: a 23 game winning streak, and, in the spirit of fairness, a 35 game losing streak.
  • Night owl: the win rate peaks at 3 AM, with Sunday the best day and Monday best avoided entirely.
  • Tilt meter: 35 out of 100. Remarkably serene for someone playing 150 bullet games a day in December.

Nemeses and Old Friends

Every long career needs a rival, and Enoch Tso is the perfect one: 218 meetings, 109 wins against 99 losses. Neither player has ever quite escaped the other.

thechessprodigy_2014, meanwhile, is a different kind of relationship entirely: 123 games, 6 wins, 117 losses, 0 draws. Most people would quietly switch servers. i137 keeps scheduling the rematch, which is either admirable persistence or the most committed revenge arc in online chess. For balance, fenrir456g-a provides the medicine, on the wrong end of a cozy 67-39 scoreline across 114 games.

The Journey So Far

The story comes in three acts. Act one, 2015: an unremarkable 1430 bullet debut that blossomed into a 1900-plus summer, capped by a 2205 mark in 2017. Act two: a long disappearance from the board. Act three, 2023: the return, immediate and enormous. September 2023 alone brought 3,818 bullet games. December 2024 added 4,567 more and pushed the rating near 2500, and on January 9, 2025 the all-time bullet peak of 2544 arrived. Blitz followed with a 2259 peak in October 2025, and rapid climbed to 2065 that November.

Where the next act goes is anyone's guess, but the smart money says it involves 1.e4, a weird Black defense, and about two hundred games before breakfast.
