JodMar: National Master of Blitz Chess
Who Is JodMar?
JodMar is a National Master with a simple philosophy: why play one long, thoughtful game when you can play a few thousand decisive ones? Since debuting on the blitz ladder in September 2013 at a humble 1342, JodMar has logged roughly 9,600 blitz games and clawed all the way to a peak of 2504 in November 2025. 2504 (2025-11-25) That is more than a thousand points of slow cooked grinding, served one Friday morning at a time.
The Long Climb Through the Blitz Ranks
The rise was not a sprint, it was a staircase. JodMar crossed 1900 within two months of starting, then spent the better part of three years orbiting the 1900 mark like a very patient satellite. The real breakthrough arrived in late 2016, when about 470 games in four months launched the rating past 2100. After that, the milestones fell in order: the 2200s by mid-2018, the 2300s by late 2020, the 2400s in 2022, and finally the summit in November 2025.
The journey included a 14 game winning streak and a 10 game losing streak, survived with a tilt factor of just 10, which in chess terms is medical grade composure.
Opening Repertoire: 1.e4 Today, 1.e4 Tomorrow
Opponents who scout JodMar learn one thing fast: as White, the pawn goes to e4. In 2026, 681 of 698 first moves were the king's pawn, and the defenses that follow are old friends:
- Caro-Kann Defense: 328 meetings, JodMar scores 53%.
- Scandinavian Defense: 310 games, and White scores nearly 55%.
- Najdorf Sicilian Defense: 257 battles, still a 55% White score.
- French Defense, Burn Variation: 195 games, close to 55%.
- The Cobra Variation of the Sicilian Four Knights: the crown jewel, 57% over 164 games.
As Black, the story gets funnier. The Two Knights Defense has been tried 276 times for a 43% score, which most players would read as a message from the data, but JodMar apparently reads as loyalty. The Alapin Sicilian and the Amazon Attack receive the same devoted treatment.
A classic Scandinavian from the White side, the way JodMar likes it:
The Nemeses
Every grinder needs sparring partners. mastertito has appeared across the board 99 times, with JodMar holding a 54 to 40 edge plus 5 draws. Then there is felixlatiza, the yin to JodMar's yang: 92 games, 41 wins, 41 losses, 10 draws. Perfectly balanced, as all rivalries should be. Rounding out the rogues' gallery is yosoloquierojugar, whose name means "I just want to play," and who has done exactly that 36 times against someone who also just wants to play.
Playing Style: The Endgame Grinder
JodMar's chess is slow poison served at speed:
- About 80% of games reach an endgame, and the average win runs 72 moves. Bring a snack.
- An 87% comeback rate, and wins in nearly half of all games even after dropping a piece. The material count is a suggestion.
- Resignation is rare. Very rare. The clock is a weapon and JodMar keeps it loaded.
- The queen is the preferred checking piece, with more than 8,800 royal checks delivered over the years.
- Peak form: Friday mornings around 8 o'clock, where the win rate hits 56%. Noon games are, statistically, a cry for help.
The Odd Corners
- In bullet, JodMar deploys the Amar Gambit and wins over 80% of the time, en route to a 2367 peak. 2367 (2025-12-30) Art like this should probably be regulated.
- Rapid chess exists, technically: a 5-2-1 record with a 2230 peak from January 2026.
- Daily chess features exactly one lifetime game: a loss with Black to the Modern Defense Pterodactyl Variation. The 400 rating stands untouched, like a museum exhibit.
The Bottom Line
Meet JodMar on a Friday at 8 AM and you face a National Master at full power. Meet them at noon and you get hope. Either way, expect 1.e4, a long endgame, and zero resignations until the server itself says it is over.
