Kershh: The Bullet Chess Clock Assassin

Every online chess site has its grinders, and then there is Kershh, a name that reads like the sound of a bullet clock hitting zero. A bullet chess specialist with side quests in blitz and rapid, Kershh has logged more than 14,000 games in the fastest time control and built a winning identity around a simple truth: you do not have to checkmate your opponent if their clock dies first. The journey stretches from a bullet rating in the 190s in early 2022 to a peak near 1700 by 2026, and it was earned one flagged opponent at a time.

The Flag Is the Point

The bullet record is a monument to balance: 6,951 wins, 6,896 losses, and 530 draws, a career so evenly split it could calibrate a coin. But the real signature is patience. Kershh has won 5,186 games on time, nearly two and a half times the number of checkmate wins. This is not checkmate chess. This is survival chess, and the opponent's clock is the final boss.

  • October 2022 featured 2,527 bullet games, roughly one every 18 minutes, all month long.
  • Peak bullet rating: 1689 (2026-07-19), set in July 2026.
  • Longest winning streak: 16 games. Longest losing streak: 30 games. Both were followed by more queuing, because what else would a grinder do?
  • Comeback rate of 77 percent: even after dropping a piece, Kershh still wins 45 percent of those games. Down material, never out.

The Repertoire: g3 Today, g3 Tomorrow

As White, the first move is 1.g3 with such loyalty it should be listed as a dependent. In 2022 it covered two thirds of all white openings; by 2025, over 80 percent. The database files the bulk of those bullet skirmishes under the Amar Gambit, more than 7,000 of them, which is either the deepest preparation in online chess or the most dedicated running joke ever committed to an opening book. A Hungarian Opening fianchetto and the occasional Nimzo-Larsen Attack round out the white menu.

As Black, the philosophy flips from speed to geology. The Czech Defense is the signature, played over 800 times across formats, with the Pirc Defense: Classical Variation and the Modern in support. The result is a fortress so solid that games drift into the endgame 73 percent of the time. Here is the wall in its natural habitat:

Every piece tucked behind another piece. Losing optional, dignity intact.

  • Best result facing a White opening in rapid: the Scandinavian Defense, a 60 percent win rate over 79 games.
  • Blitz special: a 64 percent score against the Barnes Defense. Yes, that Barnes.
  • Recurring villain: the Blackburne Shilling Gambit, which shows up 132 times in rapid as White, and the 43 percent score there proves the poisoned pawn still wins arguments.
  • Kryptonite: opponents who open 1.b3 have collected a 38 percent win rate against Kershh across 366 bullet games. Everyone has a limit.

Nemeses, Rivals, and One Very Colorful House

Every grinder collects rivalries. Kershh collected an entire haunted street. The headliner is Colorful_Houses, against whom the all-time record reads one win, fifty six losses, and one draw across 58 games. Not a typo. It is less a rivalry than a subscription to heartbreak. Then comes soruba, the most played opponent of all at 166 meetings, a series leaning generously red at 67 wins against 98 losses. notimeforku earns an honorable mention, since the username turned out to be a mission statement. On the bright side, timber29 is one of the few humans Kershh actually beats, with a winning 36-21 record plus 8 draws. Progress is real.

Style Notes and Other Curiosities

  • Early resignation rate of 2.43 percent, which explains how a 30-game losing streak happened without a single rage quit.
  • Whoever checks first usually wins. Kershh checks first 45 percent of the time and converts those games at a 59 percent clip.
  • Peak hours are lunchtime: the noon slot wins over 53 percent of games, while the 10 a.m. slot sits at a grim 41 percent. Bullet chess before the second coffee is a crime scene.
  • Monday is the best weekday at just over 50 percent. Sunday is the worst, which raises questions about how weekends are spent. (Playing chess.)
  • Slow chess was tried exactly once: one daily game in April 2022, one loss, one immediate retirement. Some people learn from mistakes. Kershh made a lifestyle out of a single data point.
  • Favorite checking piece: the queen, with the rook as reliable understudy. The king has 37 checks to its name, all presumably in emergencies.
  • Versus lower rated opposition: 68 percent. Versus higher rated: 30 percent. The scoreboard respects honesty.
  • Tilt factor of 30: the frustration is real, but so is the rematch button.

The Long Climb

The origin story is genuine underdog material: a bullet rating that touched 193 in January 2022, followed by four straight years of relentless queuing. Rapid chess climbed from the 300s to a peak of 1549 (2026-08-17) by August 2026, while bullet ground its way to that 1689 (2026-07-19) high watermark in July 2026. The curve below is not a rollercoaster. It is a mountain range, carved one flagged opponent at a time.

As of late 2026, Kershh is still queuing, still winning on time, and still opening with g3, because a promise made to the queenside fianchetto is a promise kept. Somewhere out there, colorful_houses is warming up. The grind continues.
