Hi kiranteagreen! 🎉

It is great to see you playing lots of 5-minute games and already notching up convincing tactical wins. Below is some personalised feedback drawn from the last handful of games.

What you’re already doing well

  • Quick development & central play – moves like 1.e4/1.d4 followed by Nf3, Nc3 and Bc4/Bb5 give you fast piece activity.
  • Keen eye for tactics – you regularly spot forks, pins and loose pieces (e.g. the Qxa8 and Nxc7+ ideas). Keep sharpening that vision with puzzles.
  • Playing actively when ahead – in several wins you convert extra material by pushing passed pawns or trading into winning end-games.

Biggest growth opportunities

  1. King safety first
In losses with the Scandinavian you delayed castling and allowed White to attack the exposed king or win material. A good rule of thumb: castle by move 10 unless you have a concrete reason not to.
  2. Exchange pieces with a purpose
Capturing on g4 in the game versus Alex1337 led to the line

where your knight became trapped. Before exchanging, ask, “What will my piece do next?”
  3. Simplify your opening repertoire
Against 1.e4, instead of improvising with 2…d4 or early …c6/ â€¦e5, consider one solid line (e.g. the Scandinavian with 2…Nf6 or the French 1…e6). Memorise just the first 6-7 moves and the ideas, not forced lines.
  4. Slow down at critical moments
Even in 5-minute games you usually finish with 2–3 minutes on the clock. Spend 5–10 extra seconds after every opponent move that gives a check, a capture or a threat – the classic “C-C-T” scan.
  5. End-game technique
Some wins required lots of extra moves to convert. Brush up on the basic king & pawn and rook versus pawn endings so you can finish games efficiently.

Action plan for the next two weeks

  • Daily tactics: 10 puzzles with an emphasis on forks, skewers and discovered attacks.
(Try tagging each motif such as a fork to build pattern memory.)
  • Opening tune-up: play 10 rapid games (10|0 or 15|10) using only one response to 1.e4 and 1.d4. Review them afterwards.
  • Mini-end-game course: practise K+P vs K, the opposition and Lucena/Philidor rook endings for 20 minutes.
  • Review your games in batches: group the blunders that drop pieces, create a checklist, and re-play the positions slowly.

Motivation corner

Your peak blitz rating so far: 518 (2025-01-21). Aim to add +50 points in the next month – totally realistic with consistent study.
