The Knight Hunter Himself
Vidip Kona, known to opponents everywhere as knighthunter2026, is a National Master whose username is less a name and more a mission statement. Since first logging on in October 2018, when he lost his only blitz game of the month at a rating of 736, he has piled up more than 9,300 career wins and become one of the most relentless grinders on the site.
Blitz is his home turf, where his peak sits at 2991 (2026-08-24), just nine points shy of the 3000 club. In bullet he has actually crossed the barrier, peaking at 3023 (2026-01-17), and his rapid ceiling is 2629 (2026-10-08). Somewhere out there, the knights are filing restraining orders.
The Long Climb
The improvement story here is almost absurd in its patience. 2018: one blitz loss. 2019: a respectable club player. 2020: the grind begins in earnest and the rating stops looking back. By late 2021 he was a full master-level force, and August 2025 alone featured 668 blitz games at an average near 2800, which is less a month of chess and more a personality trait.
Caro-Kann Country
With the black pieces, it is Caro-Kann Defense territory: more than 2,300 games in the opening, with the Exchange Variation alone winning about two thirds of his rapid encounters. Even opponents who reach for the Amazon Attack's Siberian line tend to regret it. With White, he spent his early years playing 1.e4 before a full conversion to 1.Nf3 and the Réti Opening in 2022, which became his most profitable weapon at nearly 68 percent in rapid play. The Blackburne Shilling Gambit also makes over 150 cameo appearances, because even masters enjoy a little mischief.
The Nemesis File
Every hero needs a villain, and Vidip's is Ravi Teja. Across 354 games, the head-to-head reads 70 wins, 255 losses and 29 draws. Most people would change their phone number after 100 losses; Vidip scheduled roughly 150 more. Meanwhile thunderdaze has lived the opposite existence, going 3 wins, 82 losses and 8 draws against him, which is less a rivalry and more a subscription service.
Style Notes and Quirks
- An endgame specialist: roughly 86 percent of his games reach one, and his average win runs about 84 moves. He is very happy to simply out-live you.
- A comeback artist: he wins more than half of the games where he drops material, and barely 1 percent of his losses are one-sided demolitions.
- Remarkably tilt-resistant, with a tilt factor of just 19, a 23-game winning streak to his name, and one humbling 19-game losing streak he presumably survived on coffee.
- A morning person: his win rate peaks at 8 in the morning, with Tuesdays and Thursdays as his strongest days. Late-night chess is where ratings go to nap.
- Quick to tip the king when a position is truly lost, but only after triple-checking that it is truly lost.
Legacy in Progress
From a 736-rated debut loss to the National Master title, a 3000-plus bullet rating and a blitz score flirting with triple digits, knighthunter2026 has built one of the cleaner long-term improvement arcs you will ever see. The knights remain hunted, the nemesis remains unbeaten in their series, and the grind, judging by the volume of games, shows no signs of slowing down.
