kyaw kyaw

kyaw kyaw, known on the scoreboard as kyawkyw, is living proof that a human being can survive on nearly ten blitz games a day. Since arriving in September 2020 rated 984, they have logged more than 21,000 blitz games, climbed all the way to a peak of 2575 (2026-09-04), and done almost all of it while insisting, on the profile at least, that daily chess is their one true love.

The Climb

The opening chapter reads like a joke: a sub-1,000 debut. By the end of that very first year, the rating had cleared 2,000, and the following years became a long, patient orbit of plateaus before a 2026 surge finally punched through the ceiling. The two secret ingredients were not mysterious. One was a 22-game winning streak. The other is a 15-point performance gap in favor of rated games over casual ones. When the game counts, kyaw kyaw counts back.

The Repertoire: Chaos, Methodically Applied

As Black, the headliner is the Barnes Defense, the famously cheeky 1...f6, which has appeared in 3,378 blitz games and won slightly more than half of them. Objectively unwise. Practically undefeated by convention.

There is also the Australian Defense, played over 2,400 times, and the Blumenfeld-Hiva Gambit, which across nearly a thousand games returns a monstrous 58.7% win rate. When an offbeat gambit is your best-scoring weapon over four digits of games, you have stopped playing openings and started playing a personality. With White, it is 1.e4 almost always, answered by 2,300-plus games of Sicilian Defense, plus Caro-Kann, Czech and Scandinavian treatments, and even 291 games of the Barnes family from the other side, because loyalty to questionable openings is a two-way street.

  • Barnes Defense (Black): 3,378 blitz games, just over 51% wins.
  • Blumenfeld-Hiva Gambit: roughly 944 games at 58.7%, the crown jewel.
  • Sicilian Defense (White): 2,300+ games at 53%, the only mainstream thing here.
  • Amar Gambit: 434 games, because one dubious gambit was never going to be enough.

The Rivalry Ledger

Roughly one in five blitz games is a rerun. mintharrkar has faced kyaw kyaw 415 times with the ledger reading 220-175-20, a series old enough to have inside jokes. gaspioneer1234 appears 237 times and has been flattened 174-55, a stat line that reads less like a rivalry and more like a subscription. Mr. Sai Han Thiha is the genuine kryptonite at 24-33, and mgpyinnyar keeps things perfectly balanced at 31-29, a coin with a face on both sides.

Style: Down a Piece? That Is a Suggestion

kyaw kyaw resigns early in only 2.65% of games, so opponents should pack a lunch. Eight in ten games reach a real endgame, wins average about 74 moves, and the comeback engine fires at 87%: even after losing a whole piece, nearly half of those games are still won. The one honest confession is that most defeats arrive by checkmate, roughly 4,800 of them, because positions reached after 1...f6 tend to end dramatically. In return, the wins come by resignation, by flag (3,117 victims of the clock), and by 2,249 checkmates of their own, nearly 20,000 queen checks and counting.

Small Confessions

  • Best hour to play: 2pm, a 58.7% win rate. Worst: 5am, which the data presents as a gentle plea to sleep.
  • Longest losing streak: 13 games. Longest winning streak: 22. The bad week is always survivable.
  • Tilt factor: 13 out of 100. Essentially a monk with a mouse.
  • First capture usually waits until move 8. Patience before the violence.
  • Versus lower-rated players, wins arrive at 66%. Versus higher-rated ones, the win rate takes a nap at 30%.

Daily Chess: A Vow, Politely Ignored

The profile declares daily chess as the preferred time control. The archive disagrees politely: 19 daily games in six years, against more than 21,000 blitz ones. The early daily record was rough, but the July 2026 return was a tidy winning cameo, suggesting the preference is real and the patience is on backorder. Someday, correspondence chess will get the attention it deserves. The blitz queue disagrees, and the queue has been winning that argument for six years.

The Short Version

kyaw kyaw is the rare player who turns a joke opening into a 3,000-game research project, a lost position into a negotiation, and a six-year grind into a climb of nearly 1,600 points. Opponents who see 1...f6 and laugh are welcome to. The scoreboard usually stops laughing around move 74.
