Who Is Vasiliy Loginov?
Vasiliy Loginov, who plays under the handle LoginovVasya, is a bullet specialist with an appetite for sharp, slightly unhinged chess. His library of games reads like a speedrun through the French Defense, a stack of gambits, and the occasional 3 a.m. sprint through a 456 game month. He is the kind of player who will trade queens, trade rooks, trade the kitchen sink, and then win the endgame anyway.
His preferred time control is Bullet, and it shows. Across more than 5,300 recorded games, the fastest format is where he has done the most damage and where his rating climbed the highest.
The Slow Start and the Three Year Nap
LoginovVasya did not arrive as a prodigy. In March 2022 he was a beginner scrapping around a bullet rating of 108, playing 107 games in a single month and winning 60 of them. By April 2022 he had clawed his way to 631, which is the chess equivalent of graduating from "how does the knight move" to "the knight moves there, and you should be worried."
Then he disappeared. For roughly three years there is silence, no games, no noise, just a dormant account. When he returned in the summer of 2025, something had clearly clicked. In August 2025 alone he played 107 bullet games, won 87, and jumped from 619 to 1483. The nap, it turns out, was a training arc.
The Bullet Climb
From late 2025 onward the curve went almost vertical. He passed 1900 in January 2026, broke 2300 in June, and reached a peak bullet rating of 2673 in September 2026. Along the way he stacked up 250 games in May 2026 and 456 games in August 2026, which is not a hobby, that is a lifestyle.
His bullet record sits at 1,305 wins, 1,035 losses and 162 draws, and he has strung together a winning streak of 35 games. Thirty five. Some players do not win 35 games in a year.
- Bullet: the main event, and the format where he is most dangerous
- Blitz: nearly as sharp, with a peak above 2400
- Rapid: a respectable side hustle, mostly Barnes Opening experiments
- Daily: four games, three wins, and presumably a polite retirement
Openings: A French Accent
Ask LoginovVasya what he wants to play and the answer is usually the French Defense. With the black pieces it is his signature: 199 bullet games, 123 wins, and a 61.8 percent score. The French Defense: Exchange Variation is his most frequent version of it, and the Advance Variation treats him well too. The one crack in the wall is the Svenonius line of the Classical Variation, where he has lost more than he has won, so if you want to annoy him, that is the door to knock on.
With the white pieces he leans on the Amar Gambit, which he has trotted out 362 times in bullet for a 52.5 percent score. It is not a theoretical refutation of anything, but it is his kind of chaos. The Barnes Opening shows up constantly in his rapid games, especially the Walkerling setup, where he has 264 games and a 60.2 percent record. Add a steady diet of the Scandinavian Defense and the occasional Sicilian Defense: Alapin Variation, and you have a repertoire built for confusion rather than correctness.
One warning for the curious: the Alapin has been a genuine sore spot in bullet, with a win rate under 40 percent. Even specialists have a nemesis opening.
Style of Play: Endgames and Early Blood
Here is the strange part. For a bullet player, LoginovVasya spends an enormous amount of time in the endgame, reaching it in roughly 71 percent of his games. Most speed demons are trying to mate you in 20 moves. He is happy to grind you down in 70, with an average of about 69 moves per win and nearly 80 per loss.
That said, he does not wait around to start the violence. His average first capture happens around move 5.8, which means the pieces come off the board before most players have finished developing. He also checks early and often, and the numbers back up the aggression: he wins about 58.8 percent of games where he delivers the first check, but only 44.7 percent when he is the one getting checked first.
- Comeback rate of about 80 percent, so do not celebrate a material advantage too early
- Early resignation rate under 3 percent, meaning he fights to the bitter, flagging end
- 1,075 wins by resignation, 952 by timeout, 778 by checkmate
- 1,005 losses by checkmate, so he does occasionally get mated while thinking about something else
Habits, Hours and Oddities
Like any bullet addict, he has a schedule that a doctor would describe as "concerning." His best results, statistically, come around 3 a.m., where his win rate touches 75 percent. Saturday is his strongest day at 55.6 percent, while Tuesday is the day the chess gods look away, with a 47.4 percent win rate.
He also performs exactly as you would expect against the rating pool. Against lower rated opponents he wins about 75.6 percent of the time. Against higher rated opponents he wins only 30.8 percent. That is not a flaw, that is physics.
Rivals and Regulars
No speed chess account exists without a few recurring sparring partners. His most frequent opponent is Lovelishkumar, a 14 game series that LoginovVasya leads 8 wins to 4 with 2 draws. He also has the upper hand on HansBrixx at 5 wins to 1, and on baymc at 8 wins to 4.
Not every rivalry goes his way. mamaluigi92 and Tudor A. Ursente both hold 4 wins to 2 against him, which suggests that somewhere out there are two people who have solved the LoginovVasya puzzle. For now, at least.
The Verdict
Vasiliy Loginov is a self made bullet player who turned a 108 rating and a three year absence into a peak above 2600. He plays the French Defense like it owes him money, throws in the Amar Gambit when he gets bored, and grinds out endgames that should have ended twenty moves earlier. If you meet him in a bullet arena at three in the morning, the safe move is to decline the game. The brave move is to play the Svenonius and hope.
