LucidLadi
Who Is LucidLadi?
LucidLadi is a rapid chess specialist with a taste for marathon endgames, dubious gambits, and statistical anomalies. First spotted on the board in December 2024, LucidLadi wasted no time settling in: within a single month, the blitz rating leapt from 1029 to 1893, a climb that suggests either hidden talent or an extremely caffeinated December. Since then, more than 12,600 games have been played, which works out to roughly 18 games a day, every day, for two straight years. Most people would call that a hobby. LucidLadi calls it a warm-up.
- Preferred time control: Rapid, by a landslide
- Peak ratings: 2232 (2026-09-10) in rapid, 2250 (2026-09-25) in blitz, and 2178 (2026-09-27) in bullet, all reached in September 2026
- Career record: 5,941 wins, 5,979 losses, 711 draws, so balanced it is nearly symmetrical
- Longest winning streak: 16 games. Longest losing streak: 20 games. Both survived.
- Daily chess: 3 wins, 0 losses, technically a perfect record for life
The Rapid Chess Grinder
If rapid is home, the numbers explain why: nearly 7,000 rapid games and counting. These are not quick games. The average win runs about 83 moves, the average loss about 78, and 82% of all games reach a proper endgame. LucidLadi grinds. First captures typically land around move 7, so the calm before the storm is brief but real.
The signature trait is resilience. LucidLadi posts an 84.9% comeback rate and still wins 44.6% of games after dropping a whole piece, which means losing material is treated as a plot twist rather than a verdict. Slightly more dangerous with the white pieces (49.3%) than black (44.8%), but dangerous enough either way. The climb from sub-1100 newcomer to 2200s regular shows up clearly in the rapid rating history:
LucidLadi's Opening Repertoire
With White, the toolbox is built on aggressive d4 systems. The Amazon Attack leads the pack with 577 rapid games, its Siberian Attack sub-line performing even better at 53.5%. It is backed by the Poisoned Pawn Variation of the London System (a name that appears partially redacted in the records, presumably to protect the innocent) and the Amar Gambit at a 53% rapid win rate. In 2025, the first move 1.Nc3 was played an astonishing 1,609 times, a true Van Geet dynasty, before a 2026 pivot to 1.d4 with over a thousand deployments. The Vienna Gambit with Max Lange Defense rounds out the sharp stuff.
With Black, LucidLadi swings between the respectable and the chaotic: the Blackburne Shilling Gambit across 222 rapid games, the Czech Defense, the Ruy Lopez Bird Variation, and a surprisingly effective Sicilian Alapin at 58.3% in rapid. The Australian Defense appears in bullet with a 54.5% win rate, presumably because everything on that continent is trying to kill you.
And then there is the Caro-Kann Defense. Roughly 400 rapid games against it, a 41.7% win rate, and yet LucidLadi keeps coming back. Some rivalries are between players. This one is between a player and a structure.
Famous Rivalries on the Board
Every grinder accumulates regular sparring partners, and LucidLadi's ledger is fascinating:
- yakoneverland: 71 games, 31 wins against 39 losses. The most played opponent and a persistent thorn.
- Dimosthenis29: 55 games, 18 wins against 37 losses. The wall. Some players are just built different.
- cavakov: 54 games with a 23-28 record, kept close by fate or stubbornness.
- lifeofme1: 42 games and a winning 22-18 record, proof that some rivals can be cracked.
- Kriz Villareal: 26 games, 13 wins, 13 losses. A rivalry so balanced it could calibrate a scale.
Quirks, Habits, and the 4 AM Problem
The statistics reveal a player with rituals, limits, and at least one deeply unwise habit:
- Best hour: 18:00, with a 51.3% win rate. Worst hour: 4 AM, at 28.6%, a number that raises questions about what exactly is being played at that hour.
- Sunday is the best day (49.2%), Wednesday the worst (44.2%).
- 1,813 wins by timeout versus 902 by checkmate: opponents run out of clock more than twice as often as they run out of pieces.
- An early resignation rate of 77% means no zombie games. When it is lost, the handshake comes quickly.
- A tilt factor of 20 out of 100, remarkable composure for someone who has lived through a 20-game losing streak.
- The queen is the favorite checking piece, deployed for check 11,015 times across 12,631 analyzed games.
- Undefeated in daily chess with wins featuring the Amazon Attack, the Australian Defense, and the London Poisoned Pawn. Sample size skeptics will be ignored.
The LucidLadi Legacy
The lesson of LucidLadi is simple: play a lot, grind everything, keep the queen busy, never stop auditioning new ways to punish the Caro-Kann, and under no circumstances schedule serious chess at 4 AM. The name promises lucidity. The games mostly deliver.
