Hi magggazin! 🤝 Let’s build on your recent games

1. What you’re doing well

  • Killer instinct on f7/f2. You already recognize that these squares are weak early in the game and you frequently convert that into quick wins (e.g. 4.Qxf7# in your win against vektor202146).
  • Tactical alertness. In several victories you spotted loose pieces and hanging kings (see move 22.Qf7+ in your last win) and converted them efficiently.
  • Confidence. Your willingness to sacrifice material (Qxf5, Ng5, etc.) shows you are not afraid to calculate sharp lines—an excellent trait as you improve.

2. Biggest growth opportunities

  1. Delay the queen adventure.
Early queen moves (Qf3, Qh5, Qf6, Qc4 …) worked against some opponents but also led to painful defeats (see your most recent loss: the queen wandered to Qf6/Qd6/Qc5 and became a tempo target, culminating in 25.Qxd7#).
    Action plan:
    • For the next 20 games, make no queen moves before move 5 unless you are recapturing something important.
    • Focus on the classical “three minor pieces + castle” rule: Knight, Knight, Bishop, castle, then decide where the queen belongs.
  2. Fundamental opening structure.
You often play systems without developing kingside pieces (e.g. …g5/…g4 in the Damiano style). This can leave your king in the center and drop pawns on g2/g7.
    Action plan:
    • Memorize these four opening goals: 1) Control the center 2) Develop minor pieces 3) King safety (castle) 4) Connect rooks.
    • Try a simple starting repertoire:
      • With White: Italian Game – 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4 Bc5 4.c3 Nf6 5.d3.
      • With Black: Scandi vs 1.e4 – 1.e4 d5 2.exd5 Qxd5 3.Nc3 Qa5 4.d4 Nf6.
Both lines keep your queen safe and your king safe.
  3. End the “game abandonment” trend.
Several losses are recorded as “game abandoned”. This usually means frustration or time-outs.
    Action plan:
    • Play a fixed daily quota (e.g. two games) and analyze before clicking “New Game”.
    • Even in a bad position, practice fighting on for defensive skills—you will often save half-points.

4. Tactical training targets

  • Forks on e6/e3 and c7/c2
  • Back-rank patterns (practice mates like the one you scored with …Qxf2#)
  • Defensive motifs: removing the defender & trade-down when ahead

5. Suggested weekly routine

  1. Play 10 min rapid games: 5 per week.
  2. After each game, spend 5 min in the Chess.com analysis board:
    • Mark ONE best move and ONE worst move.
  3. Do 20 puzzles focused on “Intermediate” difficulty (rating 400-800) every other day.
  4. Watch a short video on basic openings once a week and add one new idea to your repertoire.
