What You Already Do Well

  • Killer instinct: you spot basic mating patterns (e.g. the Scholar’s Mate) and aren’t afraid to go for them when the chance appears.
  • Tactical alertness: you often grab loose material quickly (see 7…Nxf2 in your win against lilsunk).
  • Active piece play: in several games you place rooks on open files and push passed pawns all the way, showing good attacking intent.

Top Three Improvement Priorities

  1. Opening Fundamentals > Early Queen Adventures
More than half of your losses begin with moving the queen before developing minor pieces. Follow the “develop then attack” rule: two knights, two bishops, castle – then consider queen raids.
  2. Blunder-Check Routine
Most decisive mistakes are one-move piece drops. Create a habit: before every move ask “What will my opponent capture next move?” 3-second scan saves games.
  3. Endgame Basics
When queens come off you sometimes drift (see diagram after 33…c4 vs Tonton_DD). Learn the “king-in-the-center” rule and the vital rook-pawn endings (Lucena & Philidor).

Phase-by-Phase Advice

Opening

  • Adopt a simple, solid repertoire so you don’t rely on surprise mates. Recommended: Italian Game (as White) and the Scandinavian (as Black) – both teach rapid development and clear plans.
  • Remember the 3 golden rules: control the centre, develop minor pieces, castle early.
  • Limit queen moves to max once in the first 10 moves.

Middlegame

  • Look for checks, captures, threats (the “CCT” scan) every move – it will uncover most tactics at your level.
  • Coordinate your pieces: knights belong on central outposts (e.g. d5/e5/f5), rooks on open files, bishops on long diagonals.
  • When up material, exchange pieces not pawns; when down material, do the opposite.

Endgame

  • Activate your king immediately after queens trade.
  • Study one endgame theme per week: opposition, outside passed pawn, simple rook endgames.
  • Convert extra pawns by creating a passed pawn + supporting it with king & rook.

Time Management

You often win on time yet also reach critical <10 seconds in winning positions. Try mixing in 10|5 games; the increment teaches you to use time for calculation instead of premoves.

Illustrative Moment

This four-move mate is fun, but relying on it will stall improvement. Use it as a reminder to develop first.

Drills & Next Steps

  1. Solve 10 tactics a day (rating 300-800) until you hit 90 % accuracy.
  2. Play one 15|10 game per week and annotate it yourself before engine check.
  3. Watch a 5-minute video on the Lucena position and practice it against the computer 5 times.

Stay curious and keep having fun over the board. You’re on track for rapid gains – 1000+ is well within reach once the basic blunders disappear. Good luck, and feel free to ask for more help after your next 20 games!
