A Blitz Addict Is Born
mziusiek is a chess obsessive who first logged on in 2021 with modest ambitions. A first year Blitz rating around 491 and a Rapid rating that briefly touched 180 could have discouraged anyone. Instead, they kept clicking. By 2026 mziusiek had crossed the 1000 mark in both Blitz and Bullet and pushed their Rapid rating to 1320. Along the way they played thousands of games, built real rivalries, and developed a reputation as someone who never stops fighting.
The Long Climb
Blitz is clearly the main course for mziusiek. Their Blitz graph starts humble, wobbles through the 500s and 600s, then explodes in 2026 with a monster 493 game month in June that carried them from the 600s toward four digits.
They eventually reached 1011 (2026-07-30) in Blitz, 1004 (2026-08-11) in Bullet, and 1320 (2026-03-17) in Rapid. The Rapid story is just as wild, with a 2025 spring surge from under 1000 to over 1200 in a matter of weeks. mziusiek clearly learns fast when they lock in.
Style and Signature Openings
If mziusiek has a motto, it is probably "e4". They open with the king pawn in the vast majority of games and love the open positions that follow. Their favorite battleground is the Scotch Game, where they score 56.28% in Blitz and a much stronger 63.77% as White. They are also happy to step off the beaten path with the Barnes Defense, the Amar Gambit, or the Caro-Kann Defense.
Against 1.e4 they often reach for the Scandinavian Defense and the Australian Defense, and they have a soft spot for gambits and sharp tactical tries. Their games tend to be long battles: victories average about 57 moves and defeats about 61. They reach the endgame in nearly 59% of games, so grinding is not a problem.
Rivalries
No online career is complete without rivals, and mziusiek has a full cast. gm_winkler is the most frequent foe with 118 meetings, a close and competitive rivalry. jedrulatoxic and slovingm2l have each faced mziusiek more than 100 times and generally regret it.
Then there is Adrian Budzisz, the one true nightmare. In 34 games, mziusiek won exactly once. Not a fun stat. By contrast, spenzalubiszachy and ronaldogoatsiu have been reliable sources of points, with mziusiek winning 70 of 79 and 45 of 60 respectively. Every hero needs a few supervillains and a lot of friendly sidekicks.
Quirks and Superpowers
- Longest winning streak: 15 games. Longest losing streak: 16 games. Chess is a game of swings.
- Comeback rate of 81.06%, and they still win nearly half their games after losing a piece. Giving mziusiek a material lead is not the same as beating them.
- Best day: Saturday with a 56.27% win rate. Best hour: 3 a.m. with 66.67%. Some players are just built different at night.
- They rarely resign early, only 1.73% of the time, which fits a player who never stops believing.
Against higher rated opponents mziusiek wins about 19% of the time, but against lower rated players they convert 77%. In other words, they are a dangerous spoiler and a merciless favorite.
