Hi nbeaumont69 – Personalised Chess Feedback

1. What you already do well

  • Attacking instincts. Your pawn storms (g- and h-files) created winning chances against valikjon and others.
  • Converting extra material. In the win vs Kiyele you calmly escorted the b-pawn to promotion and mopped up the rest.
  • Stable White repertoire. London-System setups (d4–Bf4–Nf3–e3) give you structures you understand better than most opponents.

2. Biggest growth opportunities

  1. King safety & development
    • Philidor loss to jul1959: the queen invasion on b7 happened because you delayed castling.
    • 22gohan22 exploited dark-square holes after …g5/…f6.
Goal: castle by move 10 in 95 % of games and think twice before loosening pawns in front of your king.
  2. Simpler Black repertoire vs 1.e4 The Philidor often leaves you cramped. Test drive the Scandinavian Defense or Caro-Kann for clearer plans and faster piece development.
  3. Time management A winning end-position turned into a timeout against braydoncameron. Plan during the opponent’s turn and use your lead on the clock as a weapon.
  4. Tactical alertness Missed forks and back-rank mates appeared in several defeats. Daily puzzle drills (15-20 a day) will grow pattern recognition.
  5. Endgame fundamentals In the rook ending vs dzmihur passive king placement cost pawns and the game. Study opposition, outside passed pawn, Lucena & Philidor positions.

3. Opening checkpoint – London blueprint

If Black plays …Nh5 to trap your bishop, exchange on d6 and retreat the knight to f3 – you’re still slightly better.

6. Two-week training loop

  • Days 1-3: 30 rated puzzles + self-analysis of the last game (first without, then with an engine).
  • Day 4: Play 5 rapid games (10|0 or 15|10); make castling a non-negotiable priority.
  • Day 5: Endgame study – practise Lucena & Philidor rook endings vs computer.
  • Days 6-7: Light blitz for fun or rest.

Repeat the cycle, swapping in a new endgame topic each time.

7. Motivational snapshot

“A bad plan is still better than no plan. Build plans, castle early, and the wins will come.”
