Oskar Ogłaza: FIDE Master and Blitz Marathon Man
The Short Version
Oskar Ogłaza, known to the online chess world as OglazaOskar2005, is a FIDE Master who has made the blitz arena his natural habitat. The 2005 in his username is widely believed to be a birth year, which makes his resume genuinely impressive: an international title and nearly a decade of online grinding banked before most people finish school.
Since first appearing in June 2018, Oskar has played more than 8,000 rated games across blitz and bullet, peaking at 2731 (2024-01-03) in blitz and 2792 (2026-04-05) in bullet. His commitment to fast chess is absolute. His Daily record of 4 wins and 6 losses suggests correspondence chess moves at roughly the speed of continental drift, which is apparently too slow even for him.
The Climb
Oskar arrived online in mid-2018 and spent his early years trading punches around 2300, learning that strong opposition does not blunder on a schedule. The real breakthrough came in November 2023: he entered the month near 2400 and left it past 2600, then touched his 2731 blitz peak in January 2024. Bullet followed suit, culminating in a 2792 peak in April 2026.
His preparation deepened quietly along the way, from about three moves of theory in 2018 to around six today, which in blitz terms is practically a home-cooked meal.
Repertoire: Najdorf Country
As White, Oskar plays 1.e4 with the stubbornness of a man who considers the debate closed. In 2023, 805 of his roughly 822 games as White began with the king's pawn. Survivors of that are usually dragged into his most-played battlefield, the Sicilian Defense: Najdorf Variation, with over 250 blitz games at nearly a 47% win rate.
His White side features the mischievous Center Game: Berger Variation, deployed almost 170 times, plus a steady diet of Caro-Kann Defense battles. His documented kryptonite is the Gruenfeld: Exchange Variation, against which he wins under 33% of the time. Every hero needs a weakness; his comes with a fixed pawn structure and a smug expression.
Style: The Marathoner
The numbers sketch a grinders' grinder. His wins average about 71 moves and his losses about 77, and roughly 80% of his games reach a true endgame. His early resignation rate is essentially zero, so when Oskar drops a piece, opponents should hold the confetti. He still wins over 41% of games after losing material, and barely 1.5% of his losses are one-sided. You have to beat him twice: once on the board and once in his head, and the second one is harder.
- Longest winning streak: 11 games
- Longest losing streak: 16 games, a week we agreed not to mention
- Comeback rate: nearly 90%, among the stingiest surrendered positions anywhere
- Favorite checking piece: the queen, with over 8,600 royal pest control missions
The 5 AM Special
Oskar's win rate peaks at 5 in the morning, where he collects wins about 56% of the time, with midnight nearly as profitable. At 1 AM, however, the wheels come off entirely at a 26% win rate, a number that reads like a cry for sleep. The scouting report is simple: check his local clock and hope it is snack o'clock.
He also plays rated chess about 36 percentage points worse than casual, hinting that a relaxed, serene Oskar exists somewhere, while his rated self fights for every half point against stronger opposition.
Familiar Foes
A career this deep in the player pool deserves a nod to the regulars. Chief among them is diglasaofficial, against whom Oskar has logged 46 games and a monstrous 35-10-1 record, a rivalry that is less rivalry and more community service. ali shahibzadegan has offered stiffer resistance over 43 games at 26-16-1, while Marco Ferrante holds a rare winning head-to-head edge, 21 to 18.
