Feedback for Pedro Henrique
Congratulations on hitting 460 (2025-04-28) and on recent creative wins such as the one versus ghassan1351992. Your games show fighting spirit and tactical imagination. The notes below target the quickest ways to convert that energy into consistent rating gains.
1. Openings: build first, attack later
- Postpone the queen adventure. In many games (e.g. 1.e4 e5 2.Qf3 or …2.Qf6) your queen comes out too early and becomes a target. Replace 2.Qf3 with 2.Nf3 3.Bc4 4.0-0. As Black, meet 2.Nf3 with 2…Nc6 or 2…d6 instead of …Qf6.
- Follow the three golden rules: (a) occupy the centre with pawns, (b) develop knights and bishops, (c) castle. Aim to have at least three minor pieces developed and your king safe by move 10 before launching pawn storms.
- Simple repertoires to practise for a month:
• White: Italian Game (1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4).
• Black: Scandinavian (1.e4 d5) or the Classical 1…e5 setup (…Nc6, …Bc5, …Nf6, …d6).
2. Tactical discipline
- Before every move perform a “blunder check”: “If I play this, what can my opponent capture or threaten?” That question would have avoided …6.Qc6?? in your loss to beginner3824.
- Solve 15-20 rated puzzles each day, focusing on pins, forks and double attacks — the motifs that appear most in your games.
- Study the critical line below and find a safer plan for Black
(hint: complete development first):
3. Time management
- You often finish with 7-8 minutes still on the clock. Invest a little more time checking candidate moves and opponent threats — quality beats speed.
- If you enjoy fast play, try 5 + 5 or 3 + 2 games, but keep the habit of slowing down for tactical positions.
4. Endgame technique
- Great perseverance in the marathon win versus muace_12. To convert faster, remember: activate your king early, cut off the enemy king with your rook, and push passed pawns only when the king can escort them.
- Learn the Lucena and Philidor rook-and-pawn endings; they decide many rapid games at your rating level.
5. Weekly training plan
- 15 min opening review: play the same main-line systems all week.
- 20 min puzzles: pins, forks, back-rank mates.
- 15 min self-analysis of one of your own games, then compare with engine suggestions.
- One short endgame video or book chapter each week.
