Hi Perry4ka – personalised feedback from your coach
What you are already doing well
- Tactical alertness: you often find forcing sequences. A nice example is the finish against asilbeksokhib: You coordinated rook + knight perfectly and kept the king boxed in.
- Converting extra material: when you are up a pawn or more you generally simplify and avoid tricks – good practical play for this rating range.
- Clock handling: most games end with you having several minutes left, so you are not blundering because of time trouble.
Main themes to work on next
- King safety in the opening
Several losses start with pawn moves like …f6 / …g6 / …g5 in the Scandinavian before you finish development. In the game against eloeloballada your king was still in the centre and the f- & g-pawns created huge holes: • Stick to classical developing moves (…Nf6, …e6, …c6, castle) before pawn storms.
• Count how many pieces are still on their original squares before pushing wing pawns. - Sound opening choices
You sometimes play off-beat systems (e.g. 2…Bc5 in the French, 2…f6 in the Scandinavian). These surprise opponents, but also lead to positions where one inaccuracy equals checkmate. I recommend:- With Black after 1.e4, play the regular Scandinavian: 1…d5 2.exd5 Qxd5 3.Nc3 Qa5 followed by …Nf6, …c6, …Bf5.
- If you like French structures, learn the simple French Defence – Rubinstein (…d5, …Nf6, …Be7, castle).
- With White, keep using e4 but cut down on very early flank pawn moves (a4, h3) unless they serve a clear purpose.
- Tactics vs. Tactics defence
Your attacking ideas are good, but spotting your opponent’s tactical resources still costs points. Set yourself a daily puzzle target (10–15 puzzles, 80 % accuracy) focusing on defensive themes: zwischenzug, over-loaded pieces, back-rank tactics.
Action plan for the next 2 weeks
- Play three rapid games (10 + 5 or longer) per day, analyse immediately while the ideas are fresh.
- During analysis, always ask: “Was my king 100 % safe?” If not, note the faulty move in a notebook.
- Finish one short opening video or article per day on the lines recommended above.
- Tactics: 15 puzzles on Chess.com’s trainer focusing on “defensive” mode.
- Endgames: practise the basic rook‐and-pawn vs. rook technique for 15 minutes every second day.
