Pipistruly: The Relentless Grinder

From the 600s to the big leagues

Every legend needs an origin story. For the online handle Pipistruly, it started in early 2021 with a very humble Rapid rating near 638. What followed was one of the most persistent climbs you will see. Month after month, the rating graph became a staircase of small dips and big leaps, all powered by thousands of games. The

chart shows a player who simply refuses to stay down.

By late 2022 the 1800s were comfortable. In 2023 the 2000 barrier fell. In 2025, the Rapid rating touched 2530. Along the way, this online battler crossed 2500 in multiple time controls. Even though the volume in Rapid is enormous, the preferred playground became Blitz, and in September 2026 the Blitz rating peaked at 2538.

A menu of chaos

Open the game archive and one thing jumps out: Pipistruly plays 1.e4. A lot. The first move hits the board in tens of thousands of games. From there, the white repertoire leans on the Sicilian Defense, with especially good results in the Alapin Variation, and the Caro-Kann Defense. The King's Gambit also makes regular appearances, which tells you that this is not a player afraid of open positions.

With the black pieces, the romance with danger continues. The Blackburne Shilling Gambit appears thousands of times, and Pipistruly still manages a winning percentage above 52 in Rapid and above 63 in Blitz. Opening statistics show a buffet of aggressive choices, and very few of them are boring.

Rivalries and recurring names

Every grinder meets familiar faces. The most frequent dance partner is rnd900, who faced Pipistruly 39 times. The head to head is one-sided: 29 wins, 8 losses, and 2 draws for our hero.

A tougher exam comes from RThanson. In 37 meetings, Pipistruly has 13 wins, 17 losses, and 7 draws. That rivalry, more than any rating chart, proves that even the best online grinders have their nemeses. Other frequent guests include ruznamamuna, tristal, and caturgila26, all of whom have tasted both victory and defeat against Pipistruly.

The mind of a grinder

Pipistruly is not just a high volume player. They are a comeback artist. A comeback rate of 87.54 percent suggests that staring at a worse position causes no panic. Even after losing a piece, the win rate sits at 50.31 percent, which is absurd for players at any level. The longest winning streak is 18, while the longest losing streak is 15. The streak numbers are big, but the reaction to the bad ones is even bigger.

The stats also show a player who saves their best energy for the afternoon. The strongest results come around 15:00, a time that appears to be the sweet spot for sharp calculation and fewer blunders. With a one-sided loss rate below 3 percent, a loss against Pipistruly is usually earned the hard way.

A couple of side notes: the tilt factor of 15 is a healthy reminder that nobody is a machine. And in Daily chess, the results are small but tidy, with 12 wins in 16 games. Some players collect trophies. Pipistruly collects online rating points, one hard fought game at a time.
