In the great courtroom of online chess, some players plead, some players appeal, and Aleksandr Makedonsky, known at the board as Prokurorpro, simply prosecutes. His display name styles him after Alexander of Macedon, which is ambitious for a man who spends most of his waking hours litigating the c6 pawn, while his username bills him as a Prosecutor Pro. Working his caseload since October 2013, when his blitz rating sat just above 1000, he has now cross-examined more than 52,000 opponents, and the verdicts are frequently guilty. He has also played exactly four daily chess games and lost three, evidence that slow justice is not his genre.
