Great job keeping your blitz rating close to 1993 (2015-08-02). From the sample of games you sent me, it’s clear that you’re a spirited fighter who is never afraid to push for the initiative.

1. Strengths to nurture

• Fast development & castling. In nearly every recent win you reached safety before move 10, allowing you to focus on active piece play.
• Killer instincts when the opponent’s king is in the centre. Your miniature versus mak_81 is a textbook example – once you saw Re8–e1# you calculated confidently and finished the game:

• Comfortable with the French Defence structures. As Black you are scoring above 60 % in C0x lines. Keep it – owning an opening you trust is priceless.

2. Recurrent problems holding you back

• Clock management. Both losses to negativeharmony and carlosmachado1 were on time despite playable positions. You often enter the last 60 seconds around move 25. Try the “move-drop-think” habit: make an obvious safe move quickly, then think on the opponent’s time.
• End-game conversion. In the Giuoco Piano loss you reached an extra queen pawn (c-pawn) but lacked a clear plan and drifted into zugzwang. A few hours of basic king-and-pawn studies will pay huge dividends.
• Over-expansion in open e4-e5 positions. The early 5…Qh4 Scotch game shows that accepting an ugly pawn structure (c5 c3) is fine if you get rapid development; but in your game, 11.Na3?! and 18.Reb2?! left pieces fighting for space. When you don’t know the theory, default to development over pawn grabs.

3. Two-week improvement plan

1. Daily 15-minute end-game drill. Start with basic theoretical endings (Lucena, Philidor, rook vs pawn). When you feel comfortable, add queen endings similar to the negativeharmony game.
2. Blitz with a delay. Play 3 + 2 instead of 3 + 0 for a week. Force yourself to use the increment to think at least 1 second per move.
3. Refresh your anti-Scotch repertoire. Spend one evening on the main-line Steinitz with …Nf6 and …Bb4, focusing on ideas rather than memorising moves. Your goal is to survive moves 1–10 without dropping material.
4. Tactic of the day. Solve three puzzles rated 1600-1800 on any platform. Stop when you hit three correct answers in a row; we want quality, not quantity.
