Rapid Chess Game Review

Your recent wins show good resilience and strong use of active pieces, especially when queens come off. The clearest opportunity from the loss is to check whether your queen is under attack before making a move elsewhere.

Key Lesson from the Loss

In your game against globalboot, 17.Bxa7 grabbed a pawn while the opponent was building a kingside attack. After 21...Qh2+, the checks and knight moves created threats that needed careful attention. Most critically, after 23...f5, the pawn attacked your queen. 23.a5 did not address that immediate threat, and you resigned.

Before making a move in a sharp position, pause to look for your opponent’s checks, captures, and threats. In particular, scan for pawns or pieces attacking your queen. Keeping your king safety and queen safe matters more than collecting a distant pawn.

Review the position and the sequence that led to the queen being attacked: Review the loss.

What You Did Well in the Wins

  • As Black against arshiya-1388, you handled the queen trade well and then used your rook actively in the endgame. Your king joined the action, and you converted the material advantage rather than letting the position drift. Review the endgame win
  • As White against ferypitchess, you stayed composed through a dangerous attack and coordinated your pieces for the final rook check. This was a good example of finding counterplay under pressure. The game began with a Scandinavian Defense gambit. Review the attacking win

Practice Focus

  • After every check, ask what forcing moves your opponent has next, including threats to your queen.
  • Before taking a pawn, check whether it pulls a defender away from your king or leaves a piece exposed.
  • Keep using active rooks in simplified positions. Your endgame win shows that coordinated rook and king activity can turn an advantage into a result.

A short safety scan before each move will help you preserve your attacking chances while avoiding avoidable tactical losses. Make tactics part of that scan by checking for attacks on your queen and other undefended pieces.
