Hi Rasansr – here is some constructive feedback to help you climb past your current and beyond!

1. Opening Fundamentals

  • Early piece activity over pawn grabs. In several recent games you played Nxe5 (e.g., vs. agourmad) or grabbed loose pawns, but then fell behind in development and king safety. Instead, try the rule of thumb: “capture in the centre only when it improves your position.”
  • King safety first. In the loss below you delayed castling, allowing a typical mating pattern on f2:

Notice how 12…Qh4+ created a double attack on your king and f2. Quick fix: castle before launching f-pawn or knight forays.

2. Middlegame & Tactics

  • Convert your tactical eye into disciplined calculations. Your win vs. bruavz54 ended with the nice shot 18.Re8#. Keep sharpening by solving 10-minute puzzles daily and always do a “blunder check” (look for: checks, captures, threats for both sides) before moving.
  • Avoid one-move threats against yourself. Many losses contain missed basic motifs such as the queen & bishop battery on c5–f2 and the …Qh4+/…Qf2# idea. Study classic patterns: smothered-mate, back-rank, fork so they jump out instantly.

3. Time Management

You usually finish games with 3-5 minutes still on the clock. Invest that time in deeper calculation – especially before tactical positions or accepting sacrifices.

4. Practical Opening Repertoire (suggestion)

  • With White: Keep playing 1.e4, but pick one mainline you can trust (e.g., Italian Game with c3 & d3, or Scotch). Memorise 10 moves, understand the plans, and you’ll avoid being surprised early.
  • With Black: Against 1.e4, try a solid setup like the Scandinavian (1…d5) or French (1…e6) – both give clear structures and cut down on tricky gambits.

5. Training Plan (4-week sample)

  1. Week 1: Review the first 10 moves of each recent game; write down where you or the opponent left “book.”
  2. Week 2: Daily 15 tactical puzzles + annotate one of your wins to spot what went right.
  3. Week 3: Play 10 rapid games focusing only on king safety – castle by move 8 whenever possible.
  4. Week 4: Analyse three losses (including the one above) with the Chess.com computer; record every blunder and its thematic cause.

6. Progress Tracking

Keep an eye on your performance chart to make sure the training sticks:

Key Take-aways

  • Castle early; delay pawn storms until you are safe.
  • Before every move: checks, captures, threats – for both sides!
  • Stick to a simple, repeatable opening repertoire.
  • Use your clock; thoughtful moves beat quick ones at this level.

Good luck, have fun, and keep the tactical fireworks – but add a safety helmet of solid fundamentals. You’ve got this!
