rusenuna: The Ruse Is the Point
Very few online chess handles are as honest as this one. rusenuna begins with "ruse," and the repertoire delivers exactly what the name promises. Nearly 14,000 bullet games have been played, a large chunk of them featuring the Amar Gambit, an opening that theory books treat like a crime scene, yet somehow the results keep coming. What started as questionable first moves has matured into one of the more entertaining grinding operations in bullet chess.
The Great Climb
Every good comeback story needs an embarrassing starting point, and this one is a beauty: a bullet rating of 613 in July 2024. Within a single month of heavy play, the number became unrecognizable, and the climb simply never stopped. The graph below is less a rating chart and more a ramp.
The ceiling kept rising too, with a peak bullet rating of 2513 (2026-08-20) reached in August 2026 and several separate visits to the 2500 neighborhood. Most players need years to gain nearly 1,900 points. rusenuna treated it as a warm-up.
Opening Repertoire: Weaponized Question Marks
White games open with 1.g3 essentially always, more than 6,900 times and counting, feeding a King's Indian Attack system whose French Variation has quietly scored over 61% across more than 500 games. Then there is the Wiedenhagen-Beta Gambit, which despite the "Beta" branding behaves like an alpha, winning 56% of 1,659 games. And of course the Amar Gambit itself: 2,794 games, a plus score, zero apologies.
As Black, the Czech Defense and Modern carry the load with humbler numbers around 45%, and the resume also includes a Colle line with the gloriously prehistoric Rhamphorhynchus Variation, an opening named after a pterodactyl, which feels appropriate for something that swoops in and snatches rating points.
Style: The Endgame Machine That Never Says Sorry
Here is the real secret: the odd openings are only the entrance. Once the clock gets low and the pieces trade off, the show begins. Around 88% of games reach the endgame, wins average roughly 80 moves, and the early resignation rate sits at a defiant 8%. Losing a piece means little, since the win rate after dropping material stays above 45%, and almost three quarters of lost positions have somehow been turned around.
The flag is the finisher. Timeout wins, more than 1,700 of them, outnumber both checkmate and resignation wins, which tracks perfectly with an 85-move marathon approach in bullet. The crown jewel was a 40-game winning streak, roughly 3,400 consecutive moves of relentless pressure.
Familiar Faces
Some rivalries are wars, this one is a coin flip. masikhay has faced rusenuna 113 times with the head-to-head stuck at a knife-edge 55-52-6. Profil-axie and herschelle001 both hold winning records over rusenuna, herschelle001 most emphatically at 29-8, proof that even a 2500-strength bullet grinder has that one opponent who simply understands the assignment.
