Hi Sigve (“Sigvah”) 👋

What you’re already doing well

  • Tactical alertness – your wins often feature clean shots, e.g. the final sequence in your Hyper-Accelerated Dragon miniature:

  • Opening variety – French, Sicilian, Queen’s Gambit, Dutch… you are comfortable on both wings and with centre-counter play.
  • Practical killer instinct – when the opponent’s king is loose you have no hesitation sacrificing material to keep the initiative.

Growth areas

  • Clock management – 4 of your last 6 losses were timeouts. Even in won positions you sometimes leave yourself with <1 s. That’s free rating left on the table.
  • Early-middlegame structure – games such as the Dutch loss show pawn islands and weak dark squares after ambitious pawn pushes (g4/h4). Balancing aggression with king safety will raise your conversion rate.
  • Opening accuracy vs gambits – the Alekhine (2…Nxe4) and Omega Gambit losses started with you accepting material without a safe plan to complete development. A quick theory refresh will plug many early blunders.

Concrete action plan

  1. 60-second “chunk timer” drill
    • Play bullet but force yourself to move every 5 s until move 15.
    • This builds trust in your intuition and preserves time for critical positions.
  2. Post-game one-pager
After every session, write one sentence each for: opening choice, biggest tactical shot (for or against), and a missed zwischenzug. 5 min reflection beats 30 min random puzzles.
  3. Theory micro-refresh (total <30 min)
    • French Tarrasch: memorise the main 0-0-0 ideas vs 3.Nd2.
    • Dutch Stonewall: have a ready answer to 4.Bg5 and 5.e3.
    • Alekhine/Omega traps: watch for the early …Nc6 idea after 3…c5 and don’t grab pawns before finishing kingside development.
  4. Endgame convert-ability
At least twice a week, practise “rook + 3 pawns vs rook” endings with 20 s on the clock. It mirrors many of your bullet endgames where technique + time decides.

Next milestone

Stabilise above 2200 bullet by reducing timeout losses to <10 % over the next 50 games. Combine the clock drill with a daily 10-minute tactics spree and you’ll get there quickly.

Inspirational clip

Re-watch your French Defense comeback vs francky yngiled. Notice how 26…Nh4 set up the decisive kingside swarm – a textbook lesson in gaining a vital tempo while improving every piece.

Keep the energy high, trust your instincts, and remember: great tactics shine brightest when paired with safe king and steady clock. Good luck in your next session!
