Hi Piotr – personalised feedback on your latest blitz run
What already works
- Tactical alertness. In the B12 win your 17…Ne4! 18.Nxg6 Nxg3!! refuted White’s plan immediately – excellent calculation under 60-second clocks.
- Dynamic opening choice. You switch between the Benko Gambit, the Scandinavian and the Caro-Kann to keep opponents guessing – a big practical edge in blitz.
- Never give up. Multiple comebacks (e.g. 31…Qxd3+!! in the MaskOfEmotions game) show strong fighting spirit even with only seconds left.
Biggest growth areas
- King-safety in your 1.Nf3/1.b3 lines.
Early flank pushes let Black hit you with …f5/…Qh5 ideas (see the ST-Sandavagur losses). Before playing a wing pawn, run a “queen-check scan” for direct checks/captures on g2, h2 and your back rank. - Prophylaxis & candidate-move discipline.
22.c5?! (QGD loss) ignored …exf4 and gave Black the initiative. Force yourself to name two serious opponent replies before you move. If either is nasty – pick a different move. - Clock control.
You routinely fall below 10 s by move 25 while opponents keep ≈30 s. Set internal clock markers: after move 10 ≥40 s, move 20 ≥25 s. Practise 3 | 2 to hard-wire “move-plus-increment” rhythm. - End-game technique.
In the Réti win you let a +10 position drift until the flag. Refresh the 15 key rook endings (Philidor, Lucena, V vs P, etc.) so conversion becomes automatic.
Opening menu for the week
| Colour | Try | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| White | 1.d4 – London System | Introduce a solid alternative to your sharp flank openings. |
| Black vs 1.e4 | Stay with the Caro-Kann, review the Fantasy (3.f3) line – play 3…dxe4 4.fxe4 e5! | Patch the leak shown in the recent loss. |
| Black vs 1.d4 | Classical QGD | Practise quieter structures that reward prophylaxis. |
