Alexandre Koulitchenko (silverskulls): Chess Biography and Player Profile
Some players collect opening books. Alexandre Koulitchenko, better known to the online chess world as silverskulls, collects comebacks. A regular in blitz, bullet and rapid chess since 2014, he has piled up well over 1,200 wins while perfecting a very particular skill: making opponents regret ever feeling comfortable.
The Rapid Ascent
Rapid is his declared home turf, and the numbers tell a stairwell story. His rapid career surfaced in January 2019 at 1333, a rating best described as "enthusiastic, owns a board." Three years of steady grinding later, it had marched all the way up to a peak of 2304. Not a spike, not a fluke: a staircase.
The Repertoire: Birds, Cobras and the Alapin
With the white pieces he plays 1.e4, then reaches for his true signature: the Bird Opening, where the Batavo Gambit has appeared in 114 blitz games alone. His Sicilian Defense handling is genuinely nasty, especially the Alapin Variation (a flawless 5-for-5 in rapid), and his French Defense scores near 73 percent. As Black he pilots the Four Knights Cobra Variation, a slippery serpent that bites him nearly as often as the opponent, which he describes as "character building."
A taste of the skull-approved diet:
Playing Style: Marathon Man, Queen for a Doorbell
Over three quarters of his games reach an endgame, and his average win drags on for 72 moves, long past the point where casual spectators have made tea. Drop a piece against him and you have not won; he converts from behind 88 percent of the time and still scores above 59 percent after losing material. When a position is truly dead he resigns early out of courtesy, keeps tilt at a near-mythical 8 out of 100, and somehow plays about 20 points better in rated games, proving he is deadly serious precisely when it counts. His favorite checking piece is, of course, the queen, deployed over 1,900 times like an aggressive doorbell.
Rivals and Robots
No biography is complete without enemies. His most frequent sparring partner is t-robot, dispatched 20 times in 28 meetings, because apparently the machines are not safe either. Henrik Dalsgaard has made the rivalry a coin flip at 11-10-1, while AJSchwartz holds nemesis status with a 10-6 edge that silverskulls reportedly checks first every morning. hoang_quan82, meanwhile, has been held to a courteous 2 wins in 15 tries.
