Swayams Mishra: A FIDE Grandmaster
Swayams Mishra, known online as swayamsm, is a FIDE Grandmaster who has built a reputation for fast, fearless, and often wonderfully weird chess. His preferred time control is Blitz, and he has pushed his Blitz rating to an eye popping 2719 (2026-03-05).
Career Highlights
From his early Bullet battles in 2012 to the present day, Swayams has been a constant presence on the board. His rating journey shows a player who keeps climbing, often in sudden bursts of form. He once rattled off 23 wins in a row, and even when things go wrong, he finds a way back. His comeback rate sits near 85 percent, which is a useful warning for anyone who celebrates too early.
Style and Repertoire
Swayams is not afraid to leave the beaten path. With the white pieces, he regularly reaches for the Nimzo-Larsen Attack, and as Black he is happy to go deep into the French Defense. He also has a soft spot for offbeat lines like the Dory Defense and the Australian Defense, which makes preparation against him genuinely difficult.
He is a grinder rather than a quitter. His early resignation rate is tiny, his endgame frequency is high, and his games tend to run deep. That persistence shows in his win rates, especially in Rapid where he has been brutally effective in lines like the Amazon Attack.
Rivalries and Resilience
His most intense online rivalry is with Andrey Kalinichev, who has faced him 142 times in a long running series that has been a real tug of war. Another frequent sparring partner is Sankalp Gupta, with more than 70 meetings between the two. These repeat matches have helped shape his sharp, practical style.
Even a Grandmaster has rough days, and Swayams once lost 14 games in a row. His reported tilt factor is also 14, but he clearly knows how to reset. If you catch him playing at 4am, his best rated hour, you are probably in for a very long night.
