Hi wiesmec!

You have an energetic, tactical style that often forces your opponents to solve problems quickly—this explains why so many of your victories come on the clock. Below are a few observations from your recent games, followed by concrete training ideas.

What you already do well

  • Opening imagination. The early d4-e3-c4 setup as White and the occasional Englund-style gambit as Black show you enjoy dynamic, unbalanced play.
  • Activity over material. You’re not afraid to sacrifice pawns (e.g. 7.cxd5 vs …Qb6) to grab the initiative or open lines—great for tactical growth.
  • Clock awareness. You consistently keep a time edge; many wins came from flagging opponents even in balanced positions.

Biggest improvement opportunities

  1. King safety and early development.
    • Loss vs Tousif123A: you delayed castling, entered time trouble fending off checks, and your king zig-zagged across e8-e6-d7-d8.
    • Win vs Kilco13: you castled late and had to play Kd2-Kd1-Kxc1 in a wide-open position.
Rule of thumb: finish development and castle by move 10 in most games.
  2. Tactical vigilance around the f-file.
In two recent losses you were mated or lost material on f2/f7 (Qxf2# and Qe7#). Plug this leak by doing daily puzzles that feature exposed kings and forks/skewers.
  3. Opening consistency as Black.
Playing …e5 + d6 + f5 (Philidor-Dutch hybrid) or the Englund Gambit is fun, but at bullet/blitz you need quick, reliable setups. Consider adding one solid defence: Sicilian, French, or the simple …e5/…d5 classical lines.
  4. Converting winning positions.
You often reach better endgames (e.g. up an exchange vs Frednash25) yet still rely on the clock. Practice trading into simple winning endings and push the passed pawn instead of chasing pieces with your rook.
  5. Time-management balance.
The clock is your ally, but five of your last six losses were your own time-outs! Try quick candidate-move scans (“checks-captures-threats”), and accept that the second-best safe move done instantly beats the perfect move you never play.
