Hi willbega1! 👋 Let’s build on your recent games

You are already playing a wide variety of openings and you’re never afraid of sharp positions – that’s great for learning fast. Below are the key themes that stood out in your last dozen games, along with concrete action-items you can start using today.

1. Opening fundamentals

  • Early-queen adventures cost you: In both of your Center-Game attempts (win vs. jozefragan and loss vs. bennie1237) the queen came out on move 3. In the win, Black failed to punish you; in the loss you fell behind after …Nd4!.
Try postponing Qxd4 or Qxd5 until your minor pieces are developed. A simple rule: “no queen moves before move 7 unless it wins something clear.
  • Castling is optional… but recommended 😉 Five of your last six losses featured your king stuck in the center. Aim to castle by move 8–10 in every game. If you can’t, ask “why not?” – often you’ll spot a quicker route to safety.
  • Pick one main opening per colour. Right now you play 1.e4, 1.d4, 1.f4, 1.g3 and 1.b3. Dabbling is fine, but having a “default” line lets you memorise the first 5–6 moves and reach middlegames you understand.
    Suggested starting kit:
    • White: 1.e4 with the Scotch (4 Nc3 or 4 Nxd4 vs. …e5) – no early queen moves needed.
    • Black: 1…e5 against 1.e4 (learn the Italian set-up) and 1…d5 against 1.d4 (Queen’s Gambit Declined basics).

2. Tactical alertness (your #1 rating booster)

You often find nice forks and skewers (e.g. 12.Bxe3 in your win vs. JozefRagan), but you also miss equal-and-opposite shots against you. Two examples:

  1. Loss vs. bennie1237 – 8…Bxd4! won a rook because the knight on d4 was pinned.
  2. Loss vs. meowpurr69 – missing 12.Nc7+ and 15.Nxa8 showed that you knew the tactic but Black’s countershots (…Qe8+, …Qxa2) went unnoticed.

Action-items:

  • Do 10 rated puzzles a day – focus on accuracy over speed.
  • During games, add a 3-second scan before every move: “What can my opponent capture or threaten next move?” This single habit will remove most blunders.

3. Endgames & time management

  • Lost on time vs. mfk0305: you had 90 seconds and a playable position, yet flagged. Practise converting basic king-and-pawn endings so you can move quickly when the clock is low.
  • Keep increments in mind. At 10 | 0 there is no bonus time, so bank 2-3 minutes for late middlegames.

4. Suggested training plan (4 weeks)

Day-to-day1 rapid game + review (15 min) + 10 puzzles
WeeklyStudy 1 new opening idea; play a 30-min game for deep practice
WeekendWatch one 15-minute model game in your chosen opening and summarise key ideas.

5. Motivation corner

Your current best rapid mark is 571 (2025-04-17). With the blunder-check routine alone, a jump of 100–150 points is realistic within a month.
