xcgmzs7: The Keyboard-Smash Assassin
xcgmzs7 looks like a username produced by a cat walking across a keyboard, and the chess behind it is anything but random. This is a career online chess grinder who first appeared in March 2018 rated 1177 in blitz and has been climbing ever since, one flagged clock and one grinding endgame at a time. Nearly 30,000 blitz games later, the numbers speak for themselves.
The Climb
The debut month was humble: 84 blitz games starting from 1177. Two months later the rating was already north of 2400, and from there it became a lifestyle. Monthly game counts would exhaust most players in a year, with the single-month record set in December 2021 at a casually monstrous 695 blitz games.
There has been turbulence along the way: an 11-game winning streak, an 18-game losing streak, and the true achievement of surviving both. By January 2026 the peak blitz rating stood at an elite 2770, earned through eight years of showing up, playing e4, and refusing to go quietly.
Opening Repertoire: 1.e4 and the Petrov Conspiracy
As White, the first move is 1.e4 essentially always. Across thousands of games, 1.d4 has appeared about a dozen times and 1.f4 exactly once in 2018, apparently never to be risked again. The favorite replies to popular defenses are refreshingly old school:
- Versus the French: the French Defense: Exchange Variation, deployed over 1,500 times.
- Versus the Sicilian: the Accelerated Dragon greeted with the Maróczy Bind, a plus-50% score across 1,000 games.
- A Poisoned Pawn line of the London that shows up partially redacted in the statistics, presumably because it is classified.
As Black, one devotion towers above the rest: the Petrov's Defense, played in more than 2,800 blitz games. Some players collect openings; xcgmzs7 married one.
Rivalries and the Nemesis File
Every grinder has a nemesis, and for xcgmzs7 it is phonySallly: 116 meetings with the record reading 39 wins, 58 losses and 19 draws. That is not a rivalry, that is a haunting. Meanwhile cruz29 lives on the friendly side of the ledger at 48 wins against 29 losses in 81 games, and zaza khoperia has been outscored 33-18-4 across 55 meetings. Nebojsa Djordjevic sits in between at 33-40-11 over 84 games, the kind of series that keeps both players up at night.
Bullet Chess: The True Habitat
Blitz may be the day job, but bullet chess is the passion. The bullet account opened in August 2021 at 1200 and immediately ran 341 games in its first month, finishing at 2349. The peak of 2477 (2022-03-22) arrived in March 2022, and the overall bullet ledger reads 255 wins, 234 losses and 36 draws.
Two bullet calling cards deserve mention. Opponents have tried the Barnes Defense, the infamous 1...f6 punt, ten times and gone 0 for 10. And against Scandinavian Defense players the win rate jumps to 64%, making both the early f6 move and the early center grab equally poor ideas.
Style, Quirks and the 1 AM Window
- Wins average 78 moves while losses last only 67. Translation: when the endgame arrives, buckle up.
- A stunning 93.6% comeback rate, and wins 41% of games even after dropping a piece.
- 2,578 career wins by timeout versus 1,587 by checkmate. The clock fears this player more than the king does.
- The queen is the most common checking piece by a landslide.
- Peak performance window: 1 AM, a 58% win rate. By 3 AM it collapses to 33%, proving the sweet spot is real and so is the bedtime.
- A tilt factor of just 18, among the calmest keyboards on the internet.
Against higher rated opposition the win rate dips to about 27%, while lower rated players fall 66% of the time, so the ladder gets climbed one careful rung at a time. Whether you meet xcgmzs7 in a rated blitz arena or a late-night bullet blitz, expect 1.e4, expect a Petrov, and whatever you do, do not trust your clock.
