Hi Xeniya!

Great run in the WSCC play-in – your recent streak of tactical wins and a steady ~2500 blitz (2539 (2024-08-15)) show real class. Below is a snapshot of your performance and a few focused suggestions for the next rating jump.

What you already do very well

  • Decisive pawn storms. Against Aiaru Altynbek you used f-, g- and h-pawns to shred the kingside and finish with 35.Rxg5+!!
. Your timing in switching from manoeuvres (c4, Nf3–Nd4) to all-out attack is excellent.
  • Comfort in the Tartakower Caro-Kann. The setup …Bd6-c7, …Nf8, …Re8, …h5-h4 scored repeatedly versus strong opposition such as Inna Agrest and Regita Desyari Putri. Piece harmony and central control are clear strengths.
  • Clean calculation. Across the sample there were almost no missed tactics or one-move shots against you – a sign of disciplined scanning.

Three priority fixes

  1. Clock management. Four of the six supplied losses were on time (e.g. vs Karina Ambartsumova, Sofia Pogorelskikh) while the position was still playable.
    • Adopt the 10-second rule: once below 10 s, make a safe move instantly and rebuild the bank with increments.
    • Use premove only for forced recaptures; avoid it in complex positions where a cheap tactic could reverse the game.
  2. Critical look at the early …h5-h4 plan. It works when White castles short, but versus long-castle setups (your loss in the QGD) the pawn becomes a hook. Delay the thrust until:
    • Your own king is fully secured.
    • You have another flank break (…c5 or …f6) ready, so the opponent can’t concentrate all resources on g-/h-files.
  3. Endgame conversion under time pressure. A pawn-up rook ending against Diajeng Theresa Singgih slipped away. Two habits to drill:
    • Simplify when ahead & low on time – trade queens first.
    • Memorise key 3-piece TB endings (RQ vs R, RB vs R) so you can blitz them out with full confidence.

Opening add-ons

You handled 1.e4 with the Caro-Kann flawlessly, but the lone QGD game showed discomfort against 1.d4. If you like Caro-Kann pawn structures, consider the Semi-Slav or Triangle setup – you’ll get familiar …c6/e6 symmetry and avoid being forced into passive lines.

Micro-training plan (next 2 weeks)

DayMain (45-60 min)Bonus (15 min)
Mon / Thu10 blitz games staying >15 s on clock.Review 2 time-scramble moments.
Tue / FriStudy 3 model Tartakower CK games, noting when …h5 appears.2400+ tactic drills.
WedEndgame flashcards: rook+pawn vs rook.Puzzle Rush x3.
WeekendPlay one 15|10 rapid and fully annotate it.Physical break – rest matters!

Keep the momentum!

Your mix of strategic understanding and tactical punch is already master level. By tightening your time handling and refining the move-order details in your favourite lines, 2600 blitz is within reach.

Good luck and enjoy the journey!
