What you are doing well

You are finding good tactical chances and converting them. In your win over ssalongo as White, you spotted a way to win the queen early and then finished with a mating attack. You can review that game here: review the queen win.

Your attacking play with the Caro-Kann Defense is also impressive. In the second game against ssalongo, you used open lines and a rook sacrifice to expose the white king and deliver checkmate. That game is here: review the Caro-Kann win.

You also show good endgame technique. In your win over ellipsiswhite, you kept your king active and pushed a passed pawn to victory. The opening of that game is a good example of the structure you handle well:

. You can review the full game here: review the endgame win.

You look comfortable in Queen's Gambit Declined structures, and that is a solid base to build on.

Areas to improve

King safety in sharp positions is the biggest area to work on. In your loss to ellipsiswhite, your king became exposed after pawn moves and an exchange sacrifice on the queenside. Before you push pawns in front of your castled king, ask yourself which lines open for your opponent. Grabbing material is not worth it if it leaves your king open. You can study that game here: review the king safety loss.

Another area is patience before resigning. Your loss to moonytiger ended by resignation after only a few moves. In the Petrov's Defense, the position after the early knight sortie is still balanced. White's knight is attacked and has to move, so there was no need to resign. In daily chess you have plenty of time to calculate, so play on in balanced positions. That game is here: review the early resignation.

When you are attacking, keep checking your own king. In the Caro-Kann win you did this well, but in the loss to ellipsiswhite the attack came back at you. A simple habit is to ask after every pawn move: does this open a file or diagonal toward my king?

Next steps

  • Practice king safety puzzles. Before moving a pawn near your king, check which lines open for the opponent.
  • Play more Petrov's Defense games and learn the main ideas after the early knight capture. Do not resign in a playable position.
  • Review the two losses with the game links above and note the exact moment the position turned. Write down one lesson from each game.
  • Keep using your endgame strength. Practice passed pawn races and active king play, because that is already a big plus in your game.
