YoUnG-Lasker: The Blitz Chess Endgame Python

Every player needs a patron saint of stubbornness, and YoUnG-Lasker chose correctly. Emanuel Lasker held the world championship for 27 years by refusing to believe any position was lost, and the young namesake runs the same software on a modern clock. More than 300 games of blitz, a peak rating of 2798 (2026-09-22), and one non-negotiable house rule: the resignation button does not exist.

Playing Style: Iron Chin, Rook Hands

The statistics read like a boxing tale of the tape. The early resignation rate is exactly 0%. Dropping a piece is treated as a business expense rather than a defeat, since nearly 60% of games featuring a lost piece still ended in victory. The overall comeback rate sits at a frankly rude 88%, the one-sided loss rate is under 1%, and the tilt factor barely registers, which in blitz terms is basically monastic calm.

The endgame is reached in 85% of games, wins average over 80 moves, and the most common checking piece is the rook, with nearly 400 delivered so far. Checkmate accounts for 45 wins; the clock has done the dirty work 64 times. More opponents have simply expired on time than been mated, a ratio Emanuel would have respected deeply.

  • Comeback rate: 88%, with wins secured after losing a piece 59% of the time
  • Early resignations: zero. The word has been removed from the repertoire
  • Average winning game: more than 80 moves of patient grinding
  • Longest winning streak: 16 consecutive games

Openings: Kan Believer, Najdorf Skeptic

With the black pieces it is the Sicilian Defense nearly every time, and the taste within the family is very specific. The Kan Variation produces win rates between 66% and 75%, while the Najdorf sits below 40%, the one dragon that bites back. The board below shows the Kan in its natural habitat:

As White the report card gets meaner: 80% against the Gruenfeld Exchange Variation, 71% against the Caro-Kann Defense, a perfect record with the Cobra Variation of the Sicilian, and an 87.5% score feeding the Poisoned Pawn to London System players. When the flat 1.d4 d5 2.Bf4 appears, the venom comes out. There is also a bullet side quest, peaking at 2323, because apparently three minutes was too much commitment.

Rivalries and the September 2026 Eruption

Every Lasker needs a rival, and that role belongs to Steo Hat, who leads the lifetime series 3 to 1 and presumably frames the scoreboards. Almost everyone else has it worse: ashen1soul is 0 for 3, while nickkr and Owen are a combined 0 for 4. Then came September 2026: 196 blitz games in one month, roughly six per day, and a rating climb from the high 2400s to a peak of 2798. That chart is less a graph than a launch sequence.

The time-of-day data reveals a lunch break assassin: the 13:00 hour produces an 83% win rate, Tuesdays are the sacred day at 67%, and Sundays are best spent offline at 43%. Add a 60-point performance gap between rated and casual games, and the profile completes itself. Emanuel said chess is a fight. YoUnG-Lasker adds that it is also a place where the opponent's flag is a lifestyle choice.
