Zac_Gwap0: Online Chess Biography of a Bullet Grinder
Overview
Zac_Gwap0 is the rare kind of online chess player whose rating graph looks like a staircase built by hand, one brick (and several thousand games) at a time. Since first appearing in March 2021, they have logged more than 11,500 games across bullet, blitz, rapid, and daily chess, climbing from a genuinely alarming rapid low of 220 to a bullet peak of 2603 (2026-09-23). The preferred battlefield is bullet chess, where fast hands, a stubborn mindset, and a well-drilled Scandinavian Defense have turned Zac_Gwap0 into a legitimate flagging machine.
The 220 Incident
Every great comeback story needs a low point, and for Zac_Gwap0 it arrived in May 2021, when the rapid rating sank to 220. By August, blitz had dipped into the 300s as well. Most players would have quietly uninstalled the app. Instead, Zac_Gwap0 played 174 blitz games in November 2021, 159 more in December, and 219 in March 2022. The losses kept coming for a while, but so did the lessons, and the graph eventually bent into a five-year climb that still has not flattened.
Built for the Clock
Bullet is home turf. Nearly 4,900 bullet games have produced 2,404 wins, and more than 1,900 career wins overall came on time, meaning the clock is treated as an attacking piece. There were months of pure obsession: 447 bullet games in March 2024, and a frankly alarming 592 in January 2025, roughly 19 games per day. By September 2026, the grind had pushed bullet to a personal best of 2603.
The Repertoire
As Black, the Scandinavian Defense is the signature weapon, played hundreds of times at every time control, with the French Defense as the trusty backup and the Alekhine Defense as an occasional experiment still waiting to pay off. The classical Scandinavian setup in action:
As White, recent years lean on 1.d4, though the filing cabinet also holds the Australian Defense (the most-played bullet weapon of all), the Amar Gambit with results best described as brave, and even the Barnes Opening: Walkerling, proof that somebody decided 1.f3 deserved a name and Zac_Gwap0 took that personally. The Amar in all its glory:
Never Say Die
The defining trait is stubbornness. The early resignation rate sits at roughly 2 percent, the comeback rate is an absurd 79 percent, and nearly half of all games are won even after dropping a piece. Games are marathons: the endgame appears in about 74 percent of contests, and the average win takes almost 67 moves. The longest winning streak reached 18 games; the longest losing streak hit 26. The losing streak changed nothing about the plan. That is this entire profile in one sentence.
Rivals and Regulars
- Simon Yousafi is the true rival: 62 games fought to a 38-20-4 record.
- thebeastchampion9000 has been dispatched 58 times against a single loss, one of the most lopsided rivalries on record.
- comeback167 dropped 27 of 30 meetings, while dodongzuri (22-0) and ejethanj (20-0) never managed a single win.
- amistad_richard-acci holds the unofficial nemesis title, leading the head-to-head 15-12.
Quirks and Fine Print
- The magic hour is 3 PM, with a win rate near 77 percent; the 6 PM slot is best avoided entirely.
- Thursdays are the weakest day of the week, Saturdays the strongest.
- The queen is the favorite checking piece, with more than 9,500 checks delivered and mates scored in roughly 14 percent of all games.
- Daily chess drifts in and out of the routine, but rated games are always taken seriously.
The Climb Continues
September 2026 delivered the finest stretch of the career so far: bullet peaked at 2603, blitz at 2423, and rapid at 2404, all within about 48 hours of each other. Whether the next chapter brings 2700 bullet, a rehabilitated Alekhine Defense, or simply more doomed opponents at 2 AM, one thing is certain: the clock will run, the pieces will move, and Zac_Gwap0 will not be resigning.
