Coach Chesswick
Hi Sriram, here is some personalised feedback based on your latest streak of bullet games.
What you’re doing well
- Consistent opening system. In almost every game you start with g3 / Bg2 or g6 / Bg7 and quickly castle. This gives you a comfortable middlegame and avoids early traps—perfect for bullet.
- Piece activity & central breaks. Notice in your win vs Igor Musiał you broke with 7.dxc5 and 8.c4, seizing space and opening files. Once the position opened you converted smoothly.
- End-game technique. Several wins (e.g. vs Saba Alalidze) were secured in queen-less endings by pushing connected passers with excellent coordination.
Key areas to improve
- Time management in lost games.
• Three of the five losses were on time in equal or even better positions.
• Bullet rewards “fast but safe” moves. Try a strict no-think-longer-than-2-seconds rule once you reach 20 sec, even if the move is only 90 % accurate. - Handling early h-pawn storms.
• All recent losses with Black came after White’s h4-h5-h6 advance (see loss vs Fabian Baenziger).
• Consider meeting 3.h4 with …h5 instead of …e6 so the structure remains closed, or delay …Bg7 until after …Nf6 so the bishop can help challenge the pawn chain. - Over-extended minor pieces.
• In the loss to Dawid Niekraś you played 12.Nd4?! and later lost the knight to tactics. Bullet encourages jumping pieces forward, but if the piece cannot retreat quickly it becomes a tactical target. - Tactical alertness vs forcing sacrifices.
• Against Rudi Olenik Campa you allowed 21…Bxa1 and against MountThief 19…Nc2+! Daily 5-minute puzzles will sharpen vision and cut down one-move blunders.
Training plan (15–20 min / day)
- Premove drills. Pick a quiet position and premove 15 legal moves in a row without blundering material. This builds bullet speed without hurting accuracy.
- Tactic burst: 10 puzzles max 30 sec each. Focus on forks and mating nets—exactly the motifs that decided your recent games.
- Opening micro-prep: Choose one antidote line for the h-pawn system as Black and play 5 blitz games to test it. Example: 1.Nf3 g6 2.d4 Bg7 3.h4 d5! 4.h5 Nc6.
- End-game speed board: Practise K+P vs K and basic rook endings against the engine at 1-second increments; aim to convert with <10 sec on your clock.

Set a short-term goal of +40 rating points without increasing average blunder count. Track “blunders per game” rather than only wins—quality first, speed second.
